I'm new to EVDO and live a bit into the country. I started off with just the U727 and did not get good receiption. I added the Wiilson antenna and when standing in my kitchen with the antenna near a window I'd get great up & down speeds. I decided to add a CTR500 and put the antenna on the roof so I would not be tied to the kitchen. The antenna is now mounted to the top of the over the air TV antenna I have on the roof and connected to 50ft of the ultra low signal loss cable which is terminated at the U727 in the CTR500. My DL/UL speeds stink to be quite honest. Just tested and right now I'm getting 135 down & 70 up. When I remove the CTR500 I get great signal, but when I actually try and connect the signal goes to maybe 1-2 bars and trips in & out of EVDO staying mostly out of EVDO, so I think I'm having a problem that is beyond my current knowledgebase.
Any advice for troubleshoot or where to go next? I really don't want to spend any more $, but am getting annoyed to say the least. I want to use my laptop wirelessly, but right now the best option has been keeping the antenna in the kitchen directly connected to the U727 in the USB port of the laptop. |

| Thanks for the link. Tomorrow I'll walk around and answer all the questions. Just FYI with the setup described above the RSSI is currently -93dB |

| try to lock your usb device to evdo only and not to automatic....if connected to evdo you should get atleast 300 to 400 kbs down and around 100 up....also if things are not resolved you may want to consider a wilson 3 watt amp ....I to had the same problem until I got a amp hooked up.. I am actually about a mile outside the mapped coverage area and in a valley with lots of trees...no los to the towers....but with the u720 ..wilson amp and the wilson trucker antenna I get steady 500 to 600 download and usually 150 upload speeds....uploads seems to vary from time to time!!!.... |
