Linksys has launched a revised EVDO router for use with 3G mobile broadband devices on Sprint's EVDO network. The Linksys WRT54G3GV2-ST (or 3GV2 for short) allows multiple computers to share a single EVDO connection, rather than having to swap the Sprint EVDO card or USB modem between computers.

The 3GV2 works with current Sprint's EVDO network devices like the Compass 597 and Ovation U727 USB modems (but not the U680), as well as the Novatel EX720 and Sierra Wireless AirCard 597E ExpressCards (adapter required but not provided).

The 3GV2 also shares the same dimensions as the older version, still has one ethernet WAN port to allow use as a Cable/DSL/Satellite router, four ethernet 10/100 ports for LAN networking, a PCMCIA slot for EVDO cards, and still uses the same WiFi "G" radio and 3.3 dBi external WiFi antenna.

Check out the FULL REVIEW, now online at:

These are nice units, but without a firm, official statement regarding the caps, which are still hazy, (my account still shows unlimited) undecided, and pretty much all the staff outside of the upper tiers are in the dark... I hate to say it, it might not move out the door.

You are right, that Gbit interfaces are needed, especially for folks that don't want to spend the extra $$$ for a Gbit switch. You stated in your wish list that you wanted a print server built in too. A nice touch, the ones that Linksys has sold, leave some folks wanting. GOOD printer servers are in the 300+ range, are compatible with nearly all printers out there, are robust and can handle 100's of cycles without bombing out.

I have been having issues with this router dropping my modem (disconnecting, power issues, etc.) and Linksys support has said that since there is no new firmware (since "May 2008") that I would need to return the product to where I got it if some of the settings they said to change are not working.

Just an FYI for people looking at this, perhaps might want to look elsewhere. You can read my trial and error status here: http://www.evdoforums.com/thread10612.html
