I apologize in advance if this has already been covered, I searched but didn't find an answer. I have the Franklin Wireless CDU-680 from ACS in Alaska. The card works great on my Vista PC, and my Powerbook G4 running OSx 10.4.

The problem is on my Powerbook G4 running OSx 10.3. The modem is reccognized, I can open the MAC driver folder and run the install. But just before the install finishes, it reads "there was an error installing the software" and it says to try again. Of course I've tried it about 20 times, with no luck.

Has anyone heard of this issue before? Any way to get this modem to work with 10.3 or do I need to upgrade to 10.4? (I hate the movie editing in 10.5 so I'm resisting upgrading to Leopard).

Thanks for ANY help you may be able to provide

Sound like Mac changed there driver support for cellular devices between 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5, which make be think the iPhone had something to do with it. Be patient, and talk to Franklin. I am sure they're working it out.

Or, buy a Cradlepoint product and never have this problem again Smile

thanks, I'm starting to check out the cradlepoint stuff, and I finally found a tech with my cell company that says that some user have issues with 10.3, but he had no other info. Probably go cradlepoint rather than buy 10.4. thanks again.

Not sure if you solved you problem with your Mac... just an FYI...
The Mac OS X 10.3.9 has a problem WITH the CDU-680 and will not work with the it, so please note to upgrade it to 10.4 or stay with 10.3.8.
