Hi guys
I get the following error during the installation of Sprint Mobile Broadband v3.10.014 and also v3.10.011 and even Sprint SmartView v1.16
"The wizard was interrupted before Sprint Mobile Broadband (Novatel Wireless) could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation another time, please run setup again.
Clock Finish to exit the wizard."
I would like to install the u727 mobile broadband device on Windows XP. I didn't find the drivers for the device in another form than these 3 setups mentioned above. I never had the connection manager installed before and it never worked before on this IBM T43p Laptop. I read some stuff about VMWare making trouble with this installation, so I tried to disable the VMWare network adapter entries as supposed elsewhere, but no difference.
Anyone has same problem or can help me out?
Looking forward to any suggestions...

Yes I tried all different possibilites, 2 Versions of the SCM and also the SmartView. However, this morning I was able to install the drivers I found in the manually decompressed directory of the SmartView installer.
I installed 4 different hardware items all out of the same location, I guess it was
Sprint_SmartView_for_Windows_1.16\program files\Novatel Wireless\Drivers
after that I just created a Dial Up connection to #777 and I was up and running. Yeah!!!!
So now I'm pretty happy, but I wondered if I can make the GPS work without the SmartView or Sprint Connection Manager. I have to ComPort installed, and I tried with 2 GPS-Tools already to read out positions, but nothing happened. Do you need SV or SCM to enable or start the GPS? |

In Network Connections / Dial-Up at the 3G Connection icon, I've successfully connected to the EVDO card simply by double clicking it or right-clicking it and choosing Connect or Disconnect. All done without Sprint software. Make a Shortcut of the icon and its ready to play from other places. Having it in the Startup folder along with a SmartView shortcut Won't make the yellow Connect button press itself on boot.
Grabbing lat-long data isn't something I've done yet.
Wouldn't one of the listed providers of maps that use gps data post some info? |
