|
|
I am currently using a relatives Sprint Compass 597 to see if it works at my rural address. I am barely getting one bar of signal most of the time, and sometimes it drops out, rarely does it go beyond two bars but I have seen it go to three.
First thing, the carrier that I have to use is Sprint.
I am wondering what products should I purchase to allow me the best chance at reliable service at higher speeds. So far I am not overly uppressed with the speeds I am getting but it is a far cry from dial-up.
First is the Compass 597 a good enough usb modem or should I look at another one Sprint has?
I have been on 3gstore.com and it seems that the strongest antenna is the 32 inch omni. Is this true? I mean will it increase the signal better than the other options?
And is there a different antenna for each different usb modem or are they all the same? Will it work with the 597?
I have 3 computers I am wanting online, and looked at some of the EVDO routers. To my understanding it works just like a regular router however I would plug the USB Modem directly into it and have a continuous connection?
Any recommendations on which router to purchase?
Also, if I get an antenna and a router, should I also get a booster? What exactly does it do that the antenna won't?
If I purchase all of this and decide not to keep the service, can I return it to 3gstore for a refund?
Thanks in advance. |

Yes, the Sierra Compass is a excellent modem and Sprint's latest offering. All the EVDO antennas will work with all the modems that have a external antenna port. The only thing that is different is the adapter cable for each. All the Cradlepoint routers are an excellent choice. Buy one that will fit your budget and needs. The MBR1000 has the specs you need to hard-wire three computers. The others can do the same wirelessly or with an attached switch. 3gstore has a return policy for anything you buy. They also have great support. Give them a call, tell them what you want to do, and they will offer suggestions. Remember you can return any gear you purchase.
Good Luck, and read the posts here for a lot of great info and help. _________________ evdo-tips.com |

3Gstore has helped thousands make the right decisions about EVDO gear, and we're ready to do the same for you.
Since you have the use of a Compass 597, I'd suggest you read this article: http://www.EVDOinfo.com/RSSI
and provide us with answers to questions you'll find at the end of article. the answers will make it easier for us to determine the best gear for your situation.
jim's right about the routers... i'll add that the most popular options are the CTR500 if portability matters, and the MBR1000 if you want maximum wireless range to/from the router.
we look forward to serving you as a 3gstore.com customer! _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas/Routers/Amps :: Verizon EVDO :: Sprint EVDO :: Why Buy from 3Gstore? |
