OK... We all know how this goes... talk to 5 different agents and you'll get 4.5 different answers. LOL
After the discussion with someone from Sprint on the consumer side that I referenced here: http://www.evdoforums.com/thread10155.html ....
I called into business customer service and got a nice guy there.
Three things came out of this:
1. My blood pressure is back to normal.
2. I'm not worried about my current account
3. I'm still not thrilled with the idea of adding more phones on to Sprint, at least yet.
He basically said that by what he was reading (he went and got some info on this), that the business accounts were not being targeted at this time - and that there is nothing going on to indicate anyone is going to get terminated anytime soon.
As for the ETF, I'm not on any chopping block at this time to make a decision as to needing to leave now to save being charged the ETF.
I'm cool with that.
So for now, I'll continue to be the canary in the coal mine to some degree. I'll use my card for everything I normally need to do for business... but I wont' be goofing around on youtube much, nor will I be doing any downloads, etc on the card.
I guess my local restaurant that serves up WiFi along with a pretty good mushroom burger will be my connection of choice when I need to do software updates and any downloads. I'll try that for a while and see how it goes.
My biggest beef with all of this is that I don't understand why (OH WHY!?!?!) didn't Sprint just roll out some new pricing plans for the internet connection cards and just have the good sense to leave current customers under current contracts alone? You'd think they could phase into something like this instead of pissing current customers off, wouldn't you think? |

i've said this before, and will say it again:
When it comes to cellular carriers, common sense is uncommon.
In fact, anything you can possibly imagine as something a carrier "would never do" because of its adverse affects on business/customers... has likely already been done once... and it that weren't bad enough, some other carrier is likely to repeat the stupidity, just to prove they can be stupider-est |

Note the phraseology. 'at this time', and 'anytime soon'. What I had been told by the executive helpdesk staff was that they were targeting the heaviest users now, and would target everyone else by the end of the year. You might ask the person you talked to to send you what he said in writing. I will almost guarantee he will not.
This whole thing is sad. Probably the worst thing for me is that I was a former Sprint employee, and left on good terms. I had nothing but goodwill towards them... which they have squandered.
But this is nothing new. Do a google search for 'Sprint ION', and you can see what incompetence Sprint is truly capable of. |

Oh... it's noted.
For now, I enjoy this service. I don't want to change until I have to.
I really can't imagine that Sprint can change the agreement, and eventually terminate our service and still get away with charging the ETF to boot. |

Oh, they'll waive the ETF easy enough. But if 25% of the people who cancel or are booted pay the ETF, that's a huge chunk of change. Short term cash for the win!

Sprint called me today, I just called them and I cancelled my internet service. From what I understood they are covering my last month's fee so I am not paying the last month and my service will be turned off on Sept 11. I might have got it wrong as the guy was a little difficult to understand. I said I wasn't interested in their 5 gig limit and that I had bought an unlimited service and was dissapointed that they hadn't lived up to their side of the bargain. I had been burnt by Verizon and now by them. He said thank you for doing business with Sprint and I told him that I wouldn't be doing anymore business with Sprint in the future.
AS a guy at work told me today "internet inequality" is a serious issue in this country. We have just joined the internet disadvantaged. Shame that the internet has been left in the hands of greedy corporations. |

That's why some of us have so enthusiastically encouraged people to fight Sprint on the ETF. Paying it just reinforces Sprint's unethical behavior and encourages it to try to get away with something similar next time. _________________ Vista64 & EX720
