OK, I know I've been burnin' up this forum the past few days... but I just had to add that I got a voicemail from Sprint today - the message left just said that it was a "courtesy call".

huh?!?!?

I tried to call them back, but their offices were closed for the day.

As a refresher, I have not gotten noticed on any changes in my data plan, my card is on a business account, and for the record, I don't have any Sprint voice lines at this time.

SO...

Do ya think they're gonna call back and "educate" me on the proper use of the connection card? Or maybe take a shot at selling me a SE plan?

Stay tuned.

Hey Max...

Yeah, I read your post, too.

But ... inquiring minds wanna know....

Did you get the infamous notices of change of T& C in your May or June bill before they started calling you?

Even if I stayed off youtube, and went to a wi-fi spot to download other music or video content... I'd still need 15 gigs a month to be able to use the service comfortably, I believe. (That's my best guesstimate after seeing what I've burned up the past 2 days - even trying to be careful)

yea I received the notice on my may bill. and they started calling me the last week of july. do you want the hotline phone number?

I'm gonna do the 5gb-10gb-5gb-15gb-5gb-20gb-5gb-25gb and so on. push it as far as it goes to see when the alarm sounds. The girl I talked to wanted to make it clear that I could go over some months as long as they were not 2 months in a row. of course she would not say how much over.

my 5gb cap starts aug 16.

Yes, please... I sent you a PM... and I'd like to get that hotline number.

Oh joy....

I just talked with a lame-excuse-for-CSR at Sprint.

Here's the really enlightening thing about all of this: It's that I wasn't angry, or stressed out about any of this UNTIL I talked with them. Now I'm so fuming pissed off that I'm looking at other options - just like many have done in this section of this board!!!

I thought some of you were going way off the deep end too early on this - but now after I've been exposed to the attitude wreaking out of Sprint - I'm gone, now, too!

Before tripping into this info this month, I had literally been into the Sprint store here twice this month. I have three phone accounts that I was going to switch over to Sprint. The only reason I hadn't done so already was because I have been doing my homework on the current Treo vs. Blackberry hardware.
(Love my treo - but was trying to see if Blackberry would serve us better)

Anyway... KISS MY HIND END, SPRINT - EVERY SQUARE ACRE OF IT!

Here's what little I accomplished on this call (other than raising my blood pressure):

1. Unlike Max, I couldn't get the guy I talked to into verifying that you could go over a month and still be OK as long as you behave for another 2 months.

2. This guy's mantra was that "We are not charging overage charges. We will work with our customers that are reducing their usage but we reserve the right to cancel their service."

3. I have until September 11th to cancel if I want my ETF waived. I asked "what if I throttle back and my usage is still too high in October or November - will you bang me for the ETF fee then?" Answer: the content in #2. No commitment to waive ETF fees if I stay longer than 9/11.

4. This phone call probably served as my notice - and when I asked this guy why I hadn't gotten a notice, he said "we're trying to reach everyone". BULLHOOOOEY. How hard is it to have that notice go in everyone's bills instead of just some?!?!? (remember, I haven't gotten a notice on this yet)

5. I told him I was looking signing up for 3 lines of voice service - and that I made this call not expecting things to go badly. But because of the arrogant way that Sprint thinks their contracts are bendable and breakable to their liking, it just pisses me off. I said: "Do you actually think that people like me that have our own businesses are going to respond positively to this sort of thing? You're not just taking away our data service - you're causing your company to lose all services we would normally buy from you! In my case, you just lost $360 a month! (3 phones and I'm going somewhere else for data now) So this genius move on Sprint's part just cost Sprint another $4,000 a year. Maybe peanuts to them, but for those of us that work to pay those business bills - well - we just don't blow that kind of money on companies that haven't treated us well.

6. Through my business contacts (that have seen how cool these cards work for me) I've probably had 20 people in the last year sign up with Sprint broadband cards because I sang the praises of this service. So kiss that kind of referral work goodbye as well.

7. I told him that $60 a month is outrageous for 5 Gig... it's like a 20 year step backward. He said that "things are happening" in regards to pricing but couldn't say more. I told him that it might have been a good idea for Sprint to figure out how to keep us (maybe offer a $99 unlimited or something) before they shot themselves in the foot. No wonder 900,000 subscribers have left.

8. Signing off the call, I got the "is there anything else I can help you with today?" ... and I said "Sure... be sure and tell the high level executives at Sprint that they just lost another $4,000 a year and they can all continue to go screw themselves with this brilliant move".

Now I'm off to call another number at Sprint and get retention... see what kind of God-like powers they have.

I called to day to cancel and settled for the limited $30 plan. After reading this forum I called back and said I wanted to cancel because of the change of service terms. The rep said there is a memo from Scott Owens, the manager of customer service, that allows the fee to be waived. I said cancel at the voice prompt, so I think I was transfered to the retention department not the first line reps.

What limited $30 plan?

When I was at the Sprint site two days ago, the choices were $59.99 for 5 Gig - or nothing.

The $30 plan used to be offered but it is very limited. 40MB of downloads before metering starts at some ridiculous rate per KB.

I don't want to talk to them. I am disgusted. When they call me I will be cancelling since 5 gig is not a service that I want or am prepared to pay for. 20 gig with good monitoring tools would be acceptable but this isn't. I can't believe that I have been screwed over by EVDO for a second time. More fool me. I should have learnt from my Verizon debarque.

Well, we see how my month pans out... but I fell off the bandwidth diet yesterday! LOL

I had been sooooo good for 4 days, but then indulged in a little YouTube last night and my usage yesterday put me over 800 megs already from what is normally allotted for that 4 days.

I'm just keeping track of this for the fun of it.. but by the same token, I really do want to know what 5 gig feels like... and it sure isn't much!

So right now, according to SurplusMeter, I can only use 130 MB a day for the rest of my billing cycle if I want to stay under the 5 gig.

That just ain't gonna happen.

If they terminate me, I'll go to another service. I have been using cellular cards for 5 years now and I'm not really willing to totally give them up - at least yet.

You are good. I am just carrying on as normal. I wasn't consulted about this TOS change and I don't agree to it.

My WB dish is still on the wall just waiting to be turned on again. I may have a EVDO router for sale soon.

"We've been trying to contact you" script. They identified me as heavy roamer, notified me of the TOS changes and actually had some helpful suggestions about network selection. Unfortunately they don't apply to me. Here in Missoula, MT it's Verizon or Alltel evdo all the time. Due to a job change I spend half the month here.

I had previously cancelled due to the TOS change and am month to month, thanks to my Evdoforum buds.

My online account still shows unlimited. My total monthly use does not exceed 5gb. The roaming is not broken out.
