07/13/08 was mentioned many times as being some magical date upon which things would happen.
its now 08/13/08 and there still really arent good answers to some key questions about the change in Sprint's Terms of Service.
we've posted a new entry to our EVDOinfo blog, to express our current opinion on this subject:

Just read your blog entry.
Lovely. Just frickin' lovely!
I can't believe how retarded those answers were!
Let's see:
My business account was created before 7/13 so it is not going to be affected (which is in line with the fact I haven't been noticed)... but then they still go on to say that it also is ***not*** being "grandfathered". (WTF?!?!?) You'd think it would be one or the other... for chrissakes.
And if usage is over 5 gigs for 2 months, then I'm gonna get "educated". Well... with what I've burned up in the last two months, you'd think my phone would be ringing off the hook with them trying to "educate" me.
I'm a Verizon refuge. I left them when Verizon's TOS included no streaming video, etc - long before they had the arrogance to charge $1,000 for a video download. I love my Sprint service. But are we headed in the same direction? Or not?
The sicko thing here is that nobody can tell what's really shakin'.
I'm a real late comer to this party. I just caught wind of all of this two days ago and I've tried to do my homework on this. In the end, I don't see anywhere how Sprint could start charging for overages at this point. It would take a new contract. Seems the only thing they can do to any of us is "educate" or shut us down.
If they terminated a contract (and so far, I don't think that's happened to anyone), I really don't think there would also be an early termination fee if the terminating was done by Sprint! So all of these people that are bailing because they don't want to be shut down ***and*** pay an ETF are just being ridiculous, IMO.
I really think that Sprint changed their TOS just to open the door to more charges in the future. I'm really not concerned about my bill getting hit - because there hasn't been notice of increased charges to me.
I think it will be more interesting to see the posts that might pop up here in about October or November - after noobs that have signed on with Sprint's 5 gig plan (since 7/13) have had two months of high usage under their belts... and have had a chance to get their bills. Should be some good stories then, possibly. |

Alex, just read the blog.
I hear Walmart has a sanity sale going.
Ya gotta love it. What an incompetent company. Of course I've said that all along. I won't go into detail, but speaking with my attorney (family corporate attny.) last week, he says they are setting themselves up in a big way. He's been following this from day one on my behalf. I laughed and told him Sprint has already died, they're just preparing for their funeral. |
