Makes sense, Fox. We'll hate to see you go, though. Since you have 30 days after the effective day specified in your bill, you'll probably be around until some time in July or August anyway.

I'll miss this place, and to a certain degree the characters who occupy it. Laughing

Either way, I'll still probably show up once in a while to check out the new XOHM news--I'll definitely be interested in that (Embarq or not) once it becomes more widespread--if Clearwire and Sprint play their cards right, nearly all electronic devices could use it.

Anyway, I'm off topic, so I digress.

Agreed that it is quite convenient and I too have done similar.

However, anyone making money off of someone else's service shouldn't be adverse to sharing some of that money with them. And since your customer is receiving this data flow for free, shouldn't they be paying the freight?

I couldn't stand it, so I uncanceled my service. Sprint always takes care of me when I have a problem, so I am staying. Sux about the 5GB limit, but I don't really go over it anyway.

Darksunpr, when you canceled, did the CS reps give you any bogus to prevent you from doing so like they gave Psibrtyger in this thread?

Please leave the 800 number or website for Centennial too. Thanks.

Nah they just told me "hey theres other plans available" and I said I dont care about them all I wanted was unlimited service for $60 as you once promised.

About Centennial they provide service only in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands (Im from Puerto Rico) and the $40 monthly applies only if you have a cellphone with them if not its $60, I got 3 cellphones there so no problem about that.
But anyways : http://www.centennialpr.com/web/wireless/ii.asp

I imagine a lot of Sprint data cards are going to be hitting eBay. When I bought my EX720 on eBay two months ago it cost $109. The auction prices are already going down. The Buy It Now price for the Novatel S720 is already down to $49.

I believe you have made a wise choice. I honestly feel they'll take a while to ramp up for tracking heavy users and longer still to tag the accounts. It makes sense to me that they'll focus on the 24/7, 6 computer, server farm type system accounts that gobble 50-100GB per month long before they get to those accounts with nominal overages, if at all.

I should add that I did just buy the U727 when it came out so I hated to shelve it--it really is smaller than many other 3G cards. I also bought a Cradlepoint 350 router--it can be used with other services, but AT&T is really the only other choice for me. AT&T's USB modem is huge.

I also expect that over the next year they will have to increase their allowance as new web applications become more popular. Daily I use a Citrix client to view MS Outlook and other PC applications--regardless, the bandwidth used is not very high. But whatever happens, I'm banking on Sprint taking care of me as they have done more often than I expected over the last 3-4 years.

Lastly, I have lots of Sprint phones since I've been with them for about 5 years now. I upgrade my phones about once a year either through eBay or through Sprint's upgrade programs. I'm never left wanting with Sprint (except for this 5GB limit), so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Of course, YMMV.

We're already at that pint now. Their new cap already restricts the existing current internet market and applications. Well unless you quit downloading movies, watching uTube and other streaming videos, oh and gaming too.

Agreed, but if 10% of customers were using 15GB and more then they would have picked a bigger number. As all users increase usage, they will have to raise the limit or service no one.

.

I've used around 900 megs in 10 days. About the only thing I've stopped doing is downloading hulu.com movies and tv episodes. I still watch the occasional 3 minute youtube or yahoo news video, and I've done some first person shooter gaming as well. I think Sprint and I can get along for now. It just took some adjustments on my part. As for leaving, where you going to go? The 5 gig cap i pretty much the norm everywhere now.

I'm staying. That said, this is a luxury for me. I use it at work so I can surf where I want without the boss looking over my shoulder. But I could just as easily surf using the work connection. There are only a few times a year where I really need true mobility (e.g. vacation, business trips, etc.).

Well, I just canceled. It was surprisingly painless too - I though the customer service rep would've done anything to keep me from canceling or insisted that I had to pay the ETF (which I don't have to pay due to them changing their Terms and Conditions).

I have DSL in my area thankfully. However, I feel for those who don't have anything else; I was on dial-up for a decade before Sprint EVDO came along!

Assuming 5GB for $60 is fair, I think EVDO with a 5GB limit has to be better than dial-up.
