I will never ever sign up with sprint again!! I had to fight with those people just to cancel.

The first time i called the girl acted like she didn't know what i was talking about when i said 5 gig cap she kept saying i had unlimited service then when i asked for rentention she asked me why did i want to talk to them? I had to laugh at her for thinking im stupid.

The second time i called i was transferred four times kept getting the run around then i was hung up on.

Third time had a very nice guy he cancelled me as soon as i mentioned the BBB and FTC i didnt have to fight.

So it seems as of now there is no national carrier that offers unlimited data correct? I have a local carrier that does but it's only EDGE speeds but it is cheaper at $40 per month.

Nope. Not anymore. T-Mobile offers unlimited, but all they have is EDGE speeds... and they are about half of what AT&T offers. Pretty much dial-up speed.

Only choice is to pay $60/mo for 5GB of data. When you really break the numbers down, that comes out to 466 minutes worth of 1500Kbps speed, at $0.13 a minute. That's so ridiculous, it's not even funny. Make sure you turn off those torrents when you use your Sprint card, or you might wake up to find out that you've, "Used up all your Internet." Make sure you never download a movie off of iTunes, or download a DVD ISO. Hell, you might not even want to update your computer anymore. Some of those Mac OS X updates can weigh in at 500MB, and that's 1/10th of your allotment right there!

The US is now official moving backwards in telecom.

Tell me about it.I guess if I'm going to stay with Sprint I will have to sell my new imac and get another (my wife already has one)Macbook.I've already sold my Mac mini because the updates on both my Windows partition, and in OS X was taking most of my data, plus I'm running Microsoft Office which is always wanting an update, times all that by 3 computers and I'm already well into my limit.

I have a hotspot at work,so I will now be taking my Macbooks with me and doing updates at lunch.

Last month I used 15 gigs total, and this month it looks like I will hit somewhere around 7-9 gigs.I can get it lower, but I downloaded OSX updates on 2 computers, and installed FF3,and Opera 9.5 on 2 computers,so once I sell my lovely 24" alloy imac I will be looking for Wifi locations to do them on a Macbook.

Oh yeah, does anyone know of a good video downloader I can use to put some videos from youtube on my hard drive???Thats about all I can do really.I will be close to going over every month, but maybe if I keep it between 6-7 gigs I can stay under Sprints radar. If that doesn't work I may have to buy another card and I'm sure I can make it work with 10 gigs.

Sorry for rambling, but its ashame the couldn't have gave use 10-15 gigs to work with instead of the joke 5 gig limit......I sure hope they get the butts in gear and hurry up getting Wimax rolled out.

No. Many of us who are paperless still got the notice (Mine on the billing period ending 20 May). Sprint only placed the notice on Page 2 of the bills (like this) for those of us who regularly exceeded 5 GB.

If you have not been notified, rumor has it that Sprint will contact you when you when excessive use causes you to come up on its radar.

30 days after it included the 5 GB cap in the Terms and Conditions, everyone who has been notified was subject to the ETF, if cancelled by Sprint. If the notification wording was the same as in mine in the link, then they are not subject to the ETF untile 30 days after the notificationo date.

Best we can determne, the T&Cs were modified around 1 Jun08; however, Sprint didn't date the current T&Cs version so no one really knows. My email efforts to get Sprnt to give us a date they were changed has hit a brick wall. The CS reps thank me for contracting Sprint then goes off on some peripheral tangent and won't answer the question. They are just trying to wear me down until I give up.

However, since Sprint did not publish the date of the change to the T&Cs (as the T&Cs requre) anyone could win an Arbitration case over it so long as they were not notified earlier.

Actually Sprint did make aware of the day of reckoning (July 13th) and it's just a few days away so we'll see how everything will work or should say not work. Wink

I terminated without ETF's and due to medical reasons and upcoming shoulder surgery I have to hit the road and relocate so out the window my cable went so I was forced with a decision. go back to Verizon and run the risk of a surprise bill of overages to go back to Sprint. I have NO alternatives where I'm going. I called Sprint they didn't blink an eye and reinstated my contract with no activation fees lol. Interesting part is both in my new paper bill or on line bill the notice like my buddy's has no mention of the change in TOS or the cap. Well we all know it's happening, but weird there was no mention. The other day when I reinstated I was told I had an unlimited account ROFLOL! They still haven't got it together yet! Shocked Guess we'll find out pretty darn quick.Wink I have to wonder if their CSR's will even know about it by then? Laughing

Say what?

That's why I chose Sprint in the first place!

My wife and I bought the card so that she could work remotely from her parents' house without the need to buy a dedicated DSL connection for them.
Both of her parents are fighting cancer and we have to be up there a lot.

Running a Citrix session across the Sprint card in addition to my obsessive need to keep all the software patched and updated (and the dual-boot to Linux that I use for fun and also keep fully updated, including kernel) will chew through that in no time.

Sprint, seriously, if you go through with this, you suck. Why not create two tiers? The current price for the 5GB limit and add another $20 for unlimited. I'd still buy it.

Note that I haven't read the 50+ pages of other comments, only the first page. This stuff may have already been discussed, but I wanted to make my feeling known.

If you are lucky enough to be in a coverage area and you don't need to travel, you can get Cricket broadband with no contract: mycricket.com/broadband/ (http and www removed from link as per my lowly noob status)

The cards are tri-band and, based on the screenshot, I think the PCMCIA card is a Kyocera Passport.

Their coverage is pretty weak and I have no idea how well they actually work across different networks, but at least it's still "unlimited".

So would I.It would be nice if you could get an extra say 20 gigs (on top of the 5) for $20.

Hi. I'm new here!!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed about this 5Gb cap "thing" from Sprint. Like most of you, I'm still confused about the changes on the plans and I would like to get more precise information because at the moment I don't have any other choices for broadband connection and I' trying not to cancel the service.

Earlier today, I called CS and after explaining CS, he said that plan still appears to be "unlimited" and it wont be affected by any change. He also said that in the case of any change, my plan will still unaffected because my contract is previous from the change effective date...

Later I checked my plans @ sprint site and I notice that the name of my plan changed to "connection data plan" or something, BUT on the plan details it still appears "unlimited Mb"...

After that I requested a chat session with a CS agent, she told me that there are changes, but she apologized because she doesn't know for sure whether the changes will take place or not, or if the changes will affect me.

I just don't know what to do... I have never had any complaints about Sprint service, but I feel that paying the same for less stuff is not a deal for me. I really need the service, besides I'm not the only one to use the service at home...

Any help will be appreciated.

Pete, that has always been a problem with Sprint. If you ask 10 reps a question, you'll get 7 different answers.

Read the opening message in this thread, particularly the last paragraph.

There is now a 5 GB cap. Period. As it stands now, Sprint SEEMS to be notifying only those who regularly exceed it by placing a notice on Page 2 of the bills (like this). On the other hand they may start notifyng by phone or text message. All are legal. After you get notified, you can cancel with no Early Termination Fee or continue and take the chance of being canceled and charged the ETF. A couple in this thread have been charged, but will get it back if they challenge it in writing.

Well here it is fresh off their website today July 13th...

With this plan and your Mobile Broadband Card or USB modem, you have instant Internet access wherever you go on the largest national Mobile Broadband network.
This plan includes

* Internet access on the largest national Mobile Broadband network.
* 5 GB/mo. in total or 300 MB/mo. while off-network roaming. (1024 kb=1MB. 1024 MB=1 GB)
* International data roaming may incur additional charges. Sprint reserves the right to limit throughput speeds or amount of data transferred.

In all of Sprint's infamous wisdom and management they still today show unlimited accounts if you sign into your account. At least mine does. Laughing I'm sure it will change here pretty quick though. I think they have a LOT of changing to do today lol. Rolling Eyes

CONNECTION CARD $61 Plan Details

Change Plan Add-ons

Yes, mine is STILL unlimited, says so on my paper bill. I talked to some friends that worked for sprint and they sometimes grandfather some in on plans. I JUST NOW looked on my online account, UNLIMITED. So no, I am lucky and I am not going to have a cap.

EDIT: Oh, I did file a complaint directly with the FCC a couple months back, maybe that had something to do with it? Shocked Very Happy
