Well, I've been reading here and there about speculation that Verizon might raise the 5 G cap because too many people have been going over it and then screaming bloody murder and threatening to sue.

Unfortunately for the consumers, it looks like the cable companies will be capping their broadband with overages too. God how I HATE metered services. Have had enough with meters on water, electricity, gas, and gasoline already. Which is why I only eat at AYCE taco-shop deals and buffets.

Thats all that is is speculation and rumors. I was on the phone earlier today with a local Verizon Tech that I'm pretty much on a first name basis with. As far as he has heard there has been no talk of raising the cap as of now.

Even though 3G and all the sites say contracts before March 2nd would not be effected I had to call and confirm it for myself today as well. I won't be subject to any overage charges and as long as I don't make any changes to the account it will remain that way.

I guess if there is nothing better my way when my contract is up I'll just by a new data card at retail price and not renew the contract because then I'd be subject to there new terms.

I hope something does change in the future but for now I'm just going to roll the dice. If I get throttled so be it I'll just keep using it.

I agree with you though that new customers are really getting the shaft and should really go with sprint if they can. I would but there closest evdo towers are probably 40-50 miles away. Only AT&T edge and Verizon Rev-A in my area.

I find it funny anytime I talk with someone with Verizon and they ask why I don't have my phone through them as well. LOL screw that verizon is disposable and I will dispose of them at my earliest convince when something better comes.

As of yet, I haven't heard anything about the 5GB cap being raised/lifted. I'd assume that most of us here that have the issue of going over the 5GB limit would be the first ones to know about it. As it would probably be largely publicized through a lot of tech blogs and whatnot I guess.

I've heard of some cable companies comtemplating the situation of capping broadband services at a certain limit, but it's all just rumors forn now I think. Comcast, I believe, started calling customers in highly dense areas with cable broadband subscribers if they went over an amount like 200GB a month and asked them to "re-evaluate their needs". I run at least 200-300GB a month on my Comcast cable modem and have never had an issue, so I would imagine if a cable company ever did this it would only apply to markets in which they know that they have a lot of bandwidth/service intensive users.
