Well after 4 attempts I got it to stay connected via HDR lock and I'm holding a steady 4 bars -74dBm right now. I don't understand what the problem was getting it to connect. Hopefully I can keep it connected.
I just ran a steady 3MB download test from testmy and here were my results. I Fell to 3 bars at one point but never dropped like I did pointing in the other direction.

Just a question : Have you inserted the small battery inside your 595U ? I'm asking because it took me 3 days to discover that I was needing a bettery.
I was connecting well sometimes without a battery. Imagine the results with the battery installed!
[quote="widgetman101"]Okay so I'm back for round 3 on the evdo quest. So here is my current hardware and setup. Post is rather long I thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out

Thanks again guys I'll put up a success story after its been a week of good solid service with no spotty EVDO like it was.
Yes the first thing I did was put the battery in the device.
Its been fine and holding steady at -73dBm right now through the connection manager on a tower thats around 10 miles out. I'm thinking its aimed kinda by the middle of a highway going down to that town.
I've seen peaks higher than that but it probably averages between 750-900 range. I guess I don't need a amplifier after all
