A technicality to some, but upload speed might be important to others and I hadn't seen it specified before. Sending large attachments could be painful.
I should say, though, that I'm using my Verizon EV-DO right now for 99% download, and the speed is amazing -- you forget there was ever a sacrifice for cellular Internet.
Note that the following is from a FAQ and not a contract, so it's probably not guaranteed. I copied it from their NationalAccess and BroadbandAccess FAQ available here.
| Quote: | This ultra-high-speed wireless service available in various cities throughout the U.S. only from Verizon Wireless, provides users with typical speeds of 300-500 kbps, capable of bursts up to 2 Mbps** ...
**Maximum possible speed varies. It declines with distance from cell site and is limited to 1.54 Mbps at certain cell sites with backhaul limitations. Number of users on the Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess network may also affect maximum possible speed. Average upload speeds expected to be between 60 and 80 kbps. Because of the difference in upload speeds, we do not recommend using Verizon Wireless BroadbandAccess for video conferencing or other applications that require faster upload speeds. |

It seems that Verizon is putting out conflicting information. In their terms of service, video conferencing is not allowed (?), but in this comment, they do not recommend it. Interesting.... _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I don't think the right hand knows what the left hand is doing.
When I was looking into using the $15/month VCast plan to provide EV-DO via a cell phone to my laptop and a Zaurus PDA, I was told by three Verizon reps that it was allowed.
One told me no, the terms of service said no, and the idea seemed to be in a gray area at best so I decided against it. If I had listened to the first rep -- who told me yes -- their mistake would have been costly for me. |
