Weird. That's all I can say.
Before 6:15 (my time for a 12 hour disconnect according to the last disconnect listed on my linksys), I was getting the proxy for images - but the images were of good quality. After the disconnect and reconnect via the router, I'm no longer getting the proxy for images. I can check this by right clicking, because adblock tells me the source of the image. I have to leave for a couple of hours, but will check when I get home to see if I'm getting those 1.1.1.x numbers again. |

Update on my end:
No 1.1.1.x numbers since the reconnect last night. None this morning after I rebooted my router, either. I typically right click on images to check, because I get an option to "block images from" thanks to Adblock. No 1.1.1.x numbers came up on that option. |

Update on my end, also:
Images still appear blurry and some are miscolored, but I'm no longer getting the 1.1.1.x dialog boxes asking for my username and password on secure websites. Also, speedtest.net still does not work for me. The flash application doesn't load at all. I used speedtest.net last week, so I know it was working then.
EDIT: Nix that on the blurry/miscolored images... most sites look normal now, but there are a handful that still appear wrong. |

| Forgot to mention: Speedtest still working, even when pulling through the proxy. |

http://speedtest.net isn't working for me either. I reloaded Flash and Java with no help. http://www.speakeasy.net/speed test/ works fine.
This is the only site that I have noticed it on. I'm thinking it may be their web site.
I just tested speedtest and it is working now.

Those 1.1.1.x IP address are indeed Alltel's proxy servers. The images you view are no longer coming directly from the websites' servers, they are coming from Alltel's. They are starting to roll this crap out all over the place to "improve" speeds. Although, I will say that I'm yet to see the blurred images. When I do, someone is going to lose their job.
If you right-click on an image and go to "Properties", there's a really good chance that that image is on a 1.1.1.x network. While this may in fact speed up Alltel's service, I see it almost as sniffing where they can ultimately know exactly what you're viewing and use it eventually to throttle bandwidth as part of a fair access policy. Let's all hope I'm wrong. |

More Alltel weirdness?
This morning any attempt to use www.google.com goes to www.google.es instead.
Anyone else getting this?
Update:
Restarted the router and things are back to normal 1.1.1.x slow service.
At least I'm not getting sent to google.es anymore. |

| I have been getting rerouted to different Google websites the last few days here (Alltel) and at work (Verizon DSL) so I don't think its a Alltel thing. I am guessing something is redirecting you at Google's end. I am getting the proxy images on my end too but I haven't noticed any degraded images. I also haven't noticed any pages loading faster or slower than before the proxy switch. What I have noticed is that I used to get some dormancy issues during high use times (like 6 pm when everyone is on) and since they went to the proxy setup I haven't had any issues with my phone going dormant in the middle of loading a page, so maybe on my end its a good thing. I guess time will tell. |

Ive been getting strange google sites also. google UK. Also since the proxy switch when I check my local radar it gives me the last radar image which is usually the previous days radar unless I hit the refresh button. I called tech on thursday and they would not even acknowledge the proxy server. Did the usual reactivation and try another computer thing, at one point he even said that if I was getting images from 1.1.1.1 that was because I had a virus on my computer. After about 45 min I was mysteriously hung up on. Alltel has pretty much become useless to me. good thing i spent a bunch of money a couple of months ago on a new card, antenna, and amp!
Does anyone know if sprint users roaming on alltel are getting this 1.1.1.1 crap. That might be my only choice if that works. |

Alltel is my service provider but I use the Sprint towers close to me. They both have a Sprint email AD when I looked them up. I never have seen any 1.1.1.1. Most of mine are 166.-----, 96------,98------.
I used to get 75------ which was Alltel but not anymore. Service is EVDO-1x or a weak signal on Rev A if I turn my antenna to it but it's about 6 miles away. The Rev A is Sprint also. I ordered Sprint service here at the online store for my wife and I'll setup a 1900 MHZ antenna to see if I can get the Rev A signal better. |

Anybody know when they are supposed to be fully switched over to the new proxy servers? Soon I hope, I've been having problems for the last month or so. Never saw any (noticeable) difference in image quality, but it seems like about 1/2 the time pages have trouble loading images (for example, will just stop loading images after a few seconds).
I'm willing to be patient and wait for them to get all the kinks worked out, though. Alltel EVDO has been fantastic for the year and a few months we've used it, and I use a fair amount of bandwidth (probably about 40GB/mo), so I don't think I should really complain too much about issues like this, lol. |

| From what someone on another forum said in a thread, my area was one of the first to get this. It took about a month or so to iron out the pauses for the most part, although I still see one occasionally. No problem with image quality, but once in a while, the proxy hangs. It's better than it was (almost every page loaded), but still an occasional problem. |

I think alltel is using us as Beta testers.
The speed test results are coming back to normal, even though I am still behind the proxy. I don't think my web usage speed have sped up much on anything but recently viewed pages. I believe alltel has simply routed the speed test site requests and replies around the proxy. This gives the appearance of normal speeds, but is not accurate on anything except recent pages stored in their caching servers. Anytime I visit obscure, technical websites for the first time, I get the caching server delay, while alltels proxy compresses the images on that page. |

I checked and I am also getting the 1.1.1.x IP
Although I do not see any of the problems you guys have been seeing.
One thing I have noticed is that it is not doing it on all images just a select few. But the ones that do go through the proxy load at the normal speed and look fine. |

I thought something was wrong with my Firefox because I had to log in to all the web sites I was permanently logged in to.
I'm not at all happy with the idea that they are proxying all my contacts with secure banking servers.
I'm getting the 1.1.1.1 through 1.1.1.5 crap right now, Sunday evening. I have decided to block all images from those five servers. If I want images, I can hit control - F5. |
