| Hmm...well if one of you guys with spare time and money feels the urge, it seems like the guys at the 3Gstore have pretty good connections with them, maybe they can ask them to test it out if they can get a battery to them. |

| Or if you had a scope and something like a 6v light bulb (or even a load resistor) you could see if it is sending a voltage or current spike. I suspect something is being left charged so when you first plug it in there is a big overvolt/current condition. |

In response to a customer's complaint about the CradlePoint issue, we have performed our own tests of the MP3450 with the CradlePoint router. Our findings have discovered that the MP3450 will send a random noise (a small voltage irregularity lasting 30 milliseconds while connecting the cable) through the output cable. This happens only when a user connects an MP3450 in a sequence that is the reverse order to that outlined in the MP3450 User Guide. If a device does not filter transient random noise or offer surge protection, the issue arises. It is important to note that we have not experienced this occurrence with any other products.
In an effort to optimize protection of our users' devices, we have added more protection to the MP3450 to avoid this scenario specifically for the CradlePoint router. This revised unit will be available around the middle of March 2008.
If you wish to replace your current MP3450 with a revised unit, we are more than happy to send you a replacement unit as soon as the new version is available. To do so, please contact our customer service department at 800.787.5888 or e-mail to support@tekkeon.com too obtain an RMA. Please be advised that this offer is only available for CradlePoint users. Please provide a copy of your CradlePoint receipt when return MP3450.
To ensure CradlePoint users are getting the correct version of the MP3450, we would like to offer a 20% discount off the MP3450 specifically for new CradlePoint users. Please use coupon code CP803120 to receive your 20% discount when order from the Tekkeon online store. (This offer is good through May 31, 2008) |

The price for the MP3450 via the Tekkeon online store is $160 plus tax/shipping. The MP3450 is available elsewhere for $119 plus $5 shipping. IMO, even with the 20% discount, this is not really a deal. |

Just wanted to say I got my replacement units, and verified that I was unable to fry my CTR-350, no matter what hookup sequence is used.
We love the 3450's. We have two of them, and they have replaced a large bag of travel chargers for all our devices.
we can charge and run all of our devices (phones, palms, cameras, routers, laptops and so forth).
We are even able to use the power bricks for our HP laptops to charge the 3450's, so we now only have to carry one brick (for the laptop) when we travel.
The 3450's even allow us to hotswap batteries in the laptops.
Great unit, lots of power, and now we no longer have any use for any chargers, traveling or not.

thanks for your dedication to the cause!
remind me again, does the 3450 come with exactly the DC jack needed for this, or did you have to fabricate? |

Yup.
The exact jack needed for the CTR-350/PSH300 comes standard with the unit.
No fabrication needed. You may be referring to some additional fabricated cables I made to take advantage of the secondary high power USB power port on the unit. I run all sorts of stuff from the USB port... even some hard drives.
They also have what seems to be hundreds of adapters available for just about anything you would ever want to plug into it. Everything from cigerette lighter adapters and Firewire adapters to hard to find connectors for specialty video cameras and laptops.
The 5 to 19 volt power range of the unit suits a large number of devices. It can even charge and run my power hungry HP 9500T laptops.
The customer service at Tekkeon is absolutely excellent as well.
I have placed about a dozen orders with them, and the service was personal, and several times they went way beyond the call of duty to provide specialty shipping, and combine adapter orders to save me money.
I highly recommend the new units for the road warrior.
Lynda and I went from carrying 40+ pound oversided 17" notebook cases to carrying the laptops in sleeves, along with a very very small neoprene Case Logic bag that contains the power brick, spare laptop batteries, a PSH300, the Tekkeon unit, phone, palm, checkbook, big stack of credit cards, 2 spare notebook hard drives, a Linksys Travel Router, a TomTom, a small ziploc with all the adapters we need (including a USB to IDE/SATA adapter), screwdriver, spare palm stylus, backup SD cards, additional bluetooth, WiFi, usb eithernet and infired adapters, a brush for wiping dust off the screen, and a little compressed air blower gun to blow dust out of the fans and keyboard, and it still has lots of room left over!
The little bag is about the size of my two hands, and the neoprene stretches to fit just about anything you want to put into it. We cut one of the inside pockets out to amke it all happen, and believe it or not, we can stuff two more laptop powerbricks with 21 foot cords into the bottom side of the bag.
Again, the bag is about the size of my two hands! Its extremely light, and the neoprene is tough, yet soft, and pads the contents so well, it can be tossed without damaging the goods inside.
All I gotta say is the PSH300 + Spint U727 + Tekkeon + the right bag has changed my life. My entire office is now mobile.
Very cool!

Oh, I forgot to mention that not only will the Tekkeon 3450 power the CTR-350, and charge and power the PSH-300...
It will also run the MBR-1000

| Does the folks from Tekkeon have info as to how to check for the revised units that won't fry our routers? I was about to place an order online until I realized there's no guarantee that the inventories of various resellers are refreshed that often / turned-over that much. How long should I wait to ensure I will receive a new unit? Is their exchange program time-limited? |

You might want to contact support over at Tekkeon. My experiences have been very very good. I rate them among the highest in customer service.
