Our phones show about 1-2 bars EVDO. |
Since setting the modem to EVDO-only I am getting -72dBm

I have -82dBm and I get about 1240kbps/DL and 337kbps/UL at 247 PING. If I drop my dBm down to 70 I get 1600kbps+ (If I move my USB modem around in the air, holding it. Meh I live in Portland Oregon, near Cornelius pass and skyline. Does a router give more power/amplification? I hear sometimes a router can enhance speeds.... Does it? |

no, a router does not inherently improve signal or speeds.
however, a router can allow you to locate your evdo device somewhere where it DOES get better signal, resulting in more speeds.
what you really want is an antenna. see my post on your poll. |

I'm at -84 dbm, using a UTStarcom UM150AL, no external antenna attached and on a Desktop computer. Running speed tests show: 1349 kb/s upload, and 254 kb/s download. Plus, its showing Rev A Coverage. Woohooo..!

| I'm using the Pantech PX-500 , no router and am getting 82-90 dbm's. My fasted DL speeds were 964kbps fluctuating between 4-6 bars. I'm wondering if a antenna would help me get any better speeds. I'm up in the 2nd floor of the house too which maybe helps. |
