To reclarify my clarification:
My interest is only in the feasiblity of using a 'battery connection hub' so that the connection need not be dropped when the battery runs out. The 'hub' would permit the connection of multiple battery packs and the removal and replacement of an exhausted battery pack without causing the router to be powered off.
I am electronically dysfunctional so I don't know what would be involved or if it is feasible. But I have seen APC upses work during a blackout over many years time.
Powerbooks have had a small battery backup inside so you could swap out the battery without powering off the book if you acted quickly, say 10 seconds total for the swap out.
What seems easy to the uninformed is almost always difficult. |

That looks good.
Now, since there are battery packs that plug into phones to recharge them, can a battery pack be plugged into the DC port to either extend the battery time or to recharge the internal battery?
I would think this would work since the other one will run off of the external pack.
Also, auto ac adapter? |

Yes. the PHS300 uses same A/C adapter as CTR350 so same 4xAA would likely add 2-3hrs runtime to built-in battery of PHS300. Haven't tried it yet.

In the review I noticed there is a 1000mah battery pack and then there is an extended 1800mah. What kind of battery is it using ? (model #) and the 2 hours 15 min test was done on the 1000 or the 1800 ?
I really like the idea BUT for me 2 hours 15 min is not enough. I would want it to be turned on in the morning and run for the entire day to allow for usage on and off during the day by my devices. |

Thanks for the info on the battery pack at the start of this thread. I got 2.5 hours and it works well. I did check with Cradlepoint and they said the router can handle 6 volts, but some modems can not, so they highly recommended staying around 5 volts.
I'm also going to look into parallel wired packs to get some more amp hours. My application can't tolerate dropping connections. The device sending data (a Canon camera) stops and starts a new queue so that any photos that were in the original queue won't be transmitted. Design flaw on the part of Canon.

if you are talking about the new CradlePoint PHS300, yes. it is accesible.

when i went to RS on saturday, the "L" fit nicely, and thats why I said it was 5.0mm O.D.
i went to my favorite electronics store here in north dallas, and found that a 5.5mm O.D. also fit, but it sure felt tighter than stock plug.
am sure both 5.0 and 5.5 will work. |
I'm not sure if Cradlepoint changed the power socket recently, but I just went to Radio Shack, and neither the L or N would fit the CTR350. Both have an I.D. of 2.5mm. I had to get the Adaptaplug O, which is 5.5mm O.D. and 2.8mm I.D. |

| Instead of using an Adaptaplug that cost $5.99 each, I used Radio Shack part #274-1573 which come 2 in a package for $2.99. They are size "N" DC Power Connectors. They fit my CTR-350 perfectly. |

I'd like to get one of these battery packs for my 350, but what blows me away is your latency Alex! Sub 100 ms on every test. Thats good voip territory and the lowest I've seen on this forum.
What's your secret?

Now that the PHS300 is upon us, I was wondering which router I should get. I'm interested in a portable setup that I've seen discussed on the forum, but if I go that route, does the extra battery in the PHS300 really buy one that much more life.
I also have another question. Is the following the proper procedure for connecting a Tekkeon battery pack to the router:
1) plug battery cable into Tekkeon
2) plug other end of cable in to CTR350/PHS300 |
