The Merlin EX720 by Novatel Wireless & the AC597E by Sierra Wireless are the two newest aircards purported to work on the Sprint-Nextel & verizon Networks. But, because of the limited number of informed technicians familiar with this forum, (the only forum dealing with aircards. Period.), there really isn't enough data available to make an informed decision concerning which is better. I can tell you that the only other forum I could find with any useful data was at Sprint's website here: http://forums.buzzaboutwireless.com/baw/search?submitted=true&type=message&sort_by=score&q=EX720&page_size=10
& to be quite honest, it is severely lacking in scope. My own experience with a Sprint aircard is with the Novatel U720 USB modem. I have had problems with same disconnecting for no apparent reason. The only posts I could find on Sprint's forum dealt with the Novatel EX720. No info. was available on the Sierra AC597E. But, I'm tempted to give it a try, just because it is newer. Though the EX720 is smaller. I will update this post as I find out more. Thanks...unitechpetro |

I have a kinda different situtation that this firmware may resolve. My problem is we have installed several of these routers aboard Ferry boats and we are losing our Internet signal between ports. The aircard we're using is the S720. I can't seem to figure out how to set the linksys to auto reconnect the connection to the sprint card once service is available. Will this not work with the LinkSys Firmware and do I have to use a modified firmware like yours?
Any help would be very much appreciated! |
