I took the easier route. My WRT54G3G-ST is on eBay as we speak, and I'm about to order the KR1. I simply don't trust Linksys anymore.

What system are you using to build the firmware ?

I just tried building ...

WRT54G3G-ST_v2.00.4_US_source_code_with_toolchain_20060927.tgz

..on my ubuntu laptop but the linux make failed

I did the opposite. Extremely happy with the Link, the KR1 is in the shed with cob webs covering it.

Good luck, hope yours is better than my KR1 experiance.
