Right now I'm uploading the zipped CD to a free file sharing service - that's gonna take forever..
Once it's there I'll post the link here. | Yes - I have the Pantech PX500 card, which is why I'm hoping this will work for me Thanks for taking the time to do that!! |
Like always, you get what you pay for.. The free file sharing service isn't working.
Right now I'm FTP-ing the zip file to one of my websites - I'll PM you the link. |

I tried to PM you, but according to the rules of this place I need to have a post count of 10 to be able to send a PM..
I have the connection manager online for you. If you email me: gerrit AT newbies DOT ws (remove all spaces and replace AT and DOT with the appropriate symbols), I'll email you the link so you can download it. |

travelnate,
i have the same probs, though not as bad as yours, i reconnect often, maybe 20 times a day on days that i work 12 hours on the computer. i 'm retired and travel alot and work p/t work in my old cash-paying gig (rf semiconductor engineering, not evdo related) to pay for toys. i have a sierrawireless pcmcia 595 and toshiba satellite u205. see my past posts on this thread. i've had evdo since october 2006. some days it works well. seems at odd hours it stays connected longer. now that i see that you have the same probs with the U720 i won't try switching cards.

| The different experiences people have with this technology are simply amazing. I am running WinXP Pro SP2, using a U720 and a KR1 and after 8 months of use where I leave it on 24/7 I virtually NEVER experience disconnects with DLs averaging in the high 1300's and ULs in the 500kbps range. I guess I am quite lucky indeed. Too bad there are so many factors that affect EVDO performance for each individual user. |

| I have disconnects using Windows XP on my MacBook Pro and using LogMeIn Pro to access a database on a remote computer. None when using OS X, well at least none that freeze the computer as in Windows. The disconnects are nasty using Logmein under XP but not with OS X using the same computer in the same location and with the U720 connected by cable and lying in the same spot. |

BTW, I had figured out my particular disconnect issues with Sprint, and documented it here: http://www.evdoforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=6487&highlight=
However, if you get odd disconnects, it may be worth seeing what you are sending to Sprint's network using tcpdump or ethereal http://www.ethereal.com/. Sprint will disconnect if it sees you send anything 'funny' to their network. |

First, Id like to say how much I've already gotten out of this forum, just simply reading the posts. This is such new technology and most of us are definitely pushing the envelope of what sprint/evdo providers intended this to do.
I am the IT Director of a small web-accessible security camera company and im using a Pantech PX-500 (SPRINT) within a Linksys WRT54G3G-ST to provide internet to one of our "doghouse" boxes bolted into the attic on a construction site. Im having no problem with the signal strength or geography but I am having trouble keeping the connection on-line. The part that bothers me is that when I travel out to the site to check the status of the box it says that it has been connected for 23 hours (OPENWRT) but my network monitoring software (Alchemy Network Monitoring) running in the shop only sees that it was up for 5 hours. This is an everyday occurence. It seems like sprint isn't sending my box an END_SESSION packet so the connection stays on but no data can move inbound nor outbound. This problem can be resolved by manually disconnecting then reconnecting the card through the router. Im just looking for some ideas guys, sprint is of no help of course/they deny that any of this is their doing. If I could somehow have a chrono script within openwrt to say: Disconnect then reconnect every hour this would hopefully solve this problem. |

| with my setup, (toshiba u205, xp, sierra wireless 595 PCMCIA card), i often have to yank out the card and re-insert it, since it hangs up somewhere, wither in the card firmware, or in windows. if i had an un-attended requirement, then i'd have to re-boot xp every 10 minutes given how often EVDO fails. if i had a unix or an embedded system, i'd have a ping (ICMP ECHO) script to test if the link is up, and reestablish the link, if the ping fails a number of times. it's seems that they never tested the product with as many units that has been deployed in a given cell, and are running into difficulties. this is just my speculation. perhaps there have been leaks from within sprint, qualcomm, sierrawireless, pantech, etc. if anyone has heard anything, please let us know. these type of technincal problems will typically snowball into a larger technical problem and may adversely affect the public's perception of the service. |
