Calm down, they can release it whenever they feel like it. Wouldn't you rather wait for a (semi) stable release then a rushed one that could possibly brick your card? |

| I would much rather have a non-rushed release with accurate information about release dates. |

The only reliable accurate release date would be AFTER the work is finished, fully tested, etc.
Any date before that is simply a target date which most likely will be missed.
It is amazing how often the unexpected comes up or the scripter wanders off on a new tangent, gets sick, etc. I'm in the third week of a project I thought I would finish in two days. Right now I am off on a tangent creating an email notification for auto-charges to credit cards. The list of missed deadlines, set aside projects, etc. is indeed long.
Also they have to deal with Vista's new unknowns and quirks, firmware updates to cards and problems that were never anticipated two years ago.
Software is not like replacing tires on a car where you can estimate with reasonable accuracy the exact time needed to change them. Or soft boiling an egg. |

Oh, I don't know... "soft boiling an egg" seems a pretty apt description of what my brain has felt like a few times after particularly long and hard coding/debugging sessions. _________________ Reach, Connect, Celebrate, Grow, Serve. |

1. I am calm.
2. I am a Controls engineer so I understand that due dates shift forwards.
3. To begin with I am bummed that the novatel line wasn't used first, and I understand Y it wasn't, Sierra is the minority used hardware.
4. When ever there has been talk of software updates most dates have been made by sprint (not sure if they ever missed a date)?
5. It is now week 3 since there was an inaccurate release date.
6. Look at Yahoo messenger vista for example. (I understand this software is a free service, so it's not totaly fair to compare sprint to it). To my point: Yahoo has been promising this software since the beginning of the first quarter. Last time they said it would be out middle of summer.
The software is still not out and people are frustrated.
7. I am just saying You shouldn't say that it is comming out unless u are sure of it. Realistic dates should be set. Cause if you keep saying its gonna b e out on this date. And it is not, No one will believe ya, and will get tired of the promises.
8. So what is the Estimated release date for this software.
9. I have downloaded it with the hopes that it would work even though it's not advertised to support my card yet. It looks real sweet, wish I could use it _________________ Vista64,EX720 |

I am using the new Sprint Connection Manager (SCM) latest (1.00.0069.0) and a Sierra 595U EVDO modem. And except for the software hanging (including hanging all my network devices) every 2 days or so, it worked pretty well for about 4 days. However, yesterday, possibly after some software installs (which I've uninstalled), now every time I click the EVDO "Connect" button I get this popup saying "Sprint Connection Manager: Connection Maintenance \ An External connection is already present, connecting is not allowed. \ [ ] Do not show this message again \ OK"
Well, "Start->Connect To->Show all connections" shows no "Connected" connections, so the error seems fake. Nonetheless, SCM won't connect (as if were real). (PS: Don't click the silly "Do not show this message again" - else, yes, it won't show again, and now SCM will just do nothing when you click "Connect" (with this situation) - just ignore your click with no error whatsoever telling why, and it looks like you'll have to uninstall & reinstall (!) simply to get back this the explanation why!)
The only workaround I've found to connect is to do "Start->Connect to->Sprint PCS Vision - Sierra Wireless" (invoke the Windows dialer directly). However, the SCM doesn't clue in that the connection has been made, still thinks there is no connection and doesn't report upload & download MB, etc. The NMEA GPS still works fine. Aside: honestly, due to his history of bugs (prior release was much worse), I probably would be even to bother with SCM software (just invoke the dialer directly), but don't know how to turn on & off the GPS without it.
I've tried:
* uninstalling the software, rebooting, then installing again - no change.
* Turn off "Use this as my default Wi-Fi management utility." - still no change.
Thanks for any thoughts you have to fix this. |

| The new software doesn't work for me. It would connect (or not), then go to "no device." When I'd close the window and reopen, then try to click it would freeze my computer, cause and error and reboot it. I'd been having some issues with my old connection manager (still not sure if it's rev A or what since it worked perfect for 1.5 years) but nothing like this, so when I called tech support they said since I have xp, the old connection manager works better. Too bad. It looked liked the new manager has some great features. |

Michael,
Check your e-mail for our reply.
For the rest of the EVDOforums.com community...
Sprint Tier 2 Support has strongly recommended NOT to upgrade to the new connection manager when I asked. I have reported several issues we have seen ourselves and have decided it was best to revert to the version prior.
Seeing the SCM was recently released, i would continue to post your issues here for the technicians at Sprint read our Forums religiously;-) _________________ - Victor |

Victor, thanks for sharing with the group up here.
I'll bet that is the reason for the delay.
I would much rather have them release something that works, vs. release something early that has problems for everyone. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

In connection manager...
Tools - settings - rules engine tab - connection maintenance (at the bottom) - maintain established connection regardless of other network availability
That should fix it. |

OK. ICS problem solved.
Follow instructions from 2 posts up. Make sure to go to network connections and share the CDMA connection. New SCM creats another network connection.
However, too many drop outs for me. Back to 3.04.006 for me!
Good luck. |
