The Stanford NDT server ( http://netspeed.stanford.edu/ )analysis reports that I should increase my recieve buffer size (not RWIN). Anyone know how this can be done? step by step registry edit or other methods would be appreciated.
NDT analysis results shown below:
Web100 reports the Round trip time = 754.5 msec; the Packet size = 1460 Bytes; and
There were 10 packets retransmitted, 68 duplicate acks received, and 74 SACK blocks received
The connection was idle 0 seconds (0%) of the time
This connection is receiver limited 12.55% of the time.
Increasing the the client's receive buffer (127.0 KB) will improve performance
This connection is sender limited 17.2% of the time.
This connection is network limited 70.25% of the time. _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

Hello Gail,
Start a new thread with your town name, state, zip, asking about coverage and repost your question there and you will get quicker and specific answers to your questions. Thanks! _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Hi Michael,
Thanks for renaming and updating this thread. Don't think I would have found it otherwise. My connection definitely needs supercharging.
Regards,
Bill |

No, do not use those settings for 1X only service. |

I have 4 different adapters in my system for various applications. I downloaded the TCP/IP tweak utility, and my EVDO adapter does not show as one of the selections to tweak. Only 2 of the 4 show up, even though I am currently using EVDO, so I know it is available.
Also, I notice that this version is from 2002.. will it work with EVDO ???? |

You're fine, just run the tweak test on dsl-reports ( http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks ) and you will confirm that your settings are changed as you wanted. _________________ Did you ever stop to think .... and then forgot to start again? |

As I posted in another thread the 65536 RWIN did not suit my setup with a HP Pavillion xf328 and the Kyocera EVDO card.
I changed it to 18980 and the speed tests all improved.
Bottomline: Your mileage may vary with RWIN settings. |

| I hate to sound like an ignoramus, but Zorag, which download do I need from the site you listed? (There are several.) Thanks in advance. |

Thanks Mr. Zorog:
The software works like a charm. I get around 700kbps upload where before it peaked at around 400. This is one great forum. Thanks Mike for hosting it! |

Lets not get everyone too excited, I am sure you meant to say 700Kbps on the DOWNLOAD. Upload will be limited to 50Kbps - 100Kbps (max is 144Kbps, with some people averaging 120Kbps).
Glad you enjoy our forums - there are so many regular posters here that deserve so much thanks for their time and efforts. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| Thanks Mike for clarifying that point for me. Again I repeat the disclaimer: I am a newbie who welcomes all info and advice on EVDO. One of these days I might even get the upload/download speed measurement correct. |
