the program Cocktail also allows you to change the TCP send and receive window size. It's also free. I had trouble downloadiing the other file listed, but Cocktail is very easy to get from versiontracker

|

I was talking with a Sprint support person on the phone today, getting an update on my call, and I asked if he had any tips that might help speed things up and he hinted to me about looking at using init strings on the modem, has anyone heard of this or tried?

I have the same issue, I thought it was just my adapter causing it, but I tryed it across 5 different pc's no go.
My old PC5740 sprint did show in there. |

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forums, and was curious on how I can get my settings (using DrTCP) changed for my Cingular card. I don't see it in the drop-down for network stacks... what can I do?
Thanks in advance. |

don't worry about it, it's mentioned earlier in this thread that the device chosen doesn't matter....i also have a px500 and i left the drop down box on the default choice (internal 56k modem) and it works just fine - my DL speeds have more than doubled, though my UL speeds were not improved...

| I have a pantech px-500 from sprint. When I first got the card, I could get 1 to 1.2 meg speed when i was close to tower. That was rev 0. I live a few miles from tower and could get 500k to 750k and at -88dbm. Now with rev A even when I get close to tower I can get only about 700 to 800 k. I have also got a external antenna and can get a -69dbm signal at home and still only about 650 to 800k. I have tried changing my HA address and still no results. Why does it seem like that when i had rev 0 I could connect better. |

I can't finetune my tcp stack because I am using Vista and it is self tweaking. _________________ longtimelurker |

So raising my TCP Receive window raised me up about 900 kbps!!! Gotta love it!

Ok, I'm having some trouble.
I have a PX500, Sprint card. If I check Speakeasy, it tells me I am getting 650 kbps Download and 130 kbps Upload. Is this normal for REVDO A? Their website says 600-1400 Download and 350-500 Upload on average.
I'm afraid I still have a great deal to learn about computers and such, so I can't understand which programs on here to use. My biggest complaint is the low Upload. I play online games, and they lag or just won't play with my current speeds. Any suggestions on which program to use? |
