does it work with the OpenWRT firmware?

I'm very curious of this as well. I have an S720 and a Linksys router. I just bought a new express card only laptop and I'm looking for a way to use a new EX720 in both my laptop AND my router.

I can't say for sure the 720 will, but I personally used a V640 with no issues and now have a V740 in it using the Novatel Adapter with no issues using the OpenWRT with the evdowizard X-WRT mods.

Novatel drivers are a one deal for all cards for the most part and the following is from a Novatel support page stating the devices and OS's thier single drivers download covers:

EVDO ----- V620 V640 EV620 USB720 E725 V740
XP 32/64-----Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes
Vista 32/64-- Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes

Unless Sprint has really changed the card up I would think it would with the modded firm but thats a best guess at the most since I;ve never actuslly witnessed the card working.

Evowizard has the follow cards in the firmware so they were tested by someone:
"1199:6820") card_id="AC875";;
"106c:3701") card_id="PC5740";;
"106c:3702") card_id="PX500-PC5750";;
"1199:0019") card_id="AC595";;
"1410:1130") card_id="S720";;
"1199:0112") card_id="AC580";;
"0c88:17da") card_id="KPC650";;
"1410:1110") card_id="S620-V620";;
"f3d0:0112") card_id="PC5220";;
"0af0:6701") card_id="OptionGT";;
"431c:8115") card_id="Dell_5500";;
"431c:8818") card_id="Dell_5510";;
"1410:1120") card_id="EX720";;
"1410:2110") card_id="U720";;
"1410:1430") card_id="XU870";;
"0192:0710") card_id="AC850-AC860";;
"1199:6820") card_id="AC875"

Again, never have witnessed it working first hand with the modded firm.

Hey can you verify what the exact setup is that you are using?

I currently have the WRT543G-ST and just got a laptop that only has the expresscard slot.

I would like to buy a card that works in both. So if the EX720 works in it, I would like to know what adapter you are using, so I can pick it up as well.

Thanks

Nevermind, I picked up the Novatel ExpressCard/34 Adapter - XCA-3 and can verify that it does work perfectly.

Firmware 2.01.12 1/31/2008 says it supports the EX720 and the sierra Wireless AC597E with adapters. I'm going to give it a try as soon as I get home tomorrow night.

Just tested a Sprint Novatel EX720 and Sierra AirCard 597E and they NOW WORK in the WRT54G3G-ST with the Novatel ExpressCard Adatper.

We will write more about it on EVDOinfo.com tomorrow.

New features include:

Quote:
II. NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENT
1. New Data Card support. WRT54G3G-ST now supports the following new ex-
press data cards (with adaptor):
a. Sierra Wireless AC597E
b. Option Express EX720
2. Improve 3G uplink throughput. Update data card serial driver and modify
multi-buffer mechanism for uplink throughput. The EVDO uplink throughput
is no longer limited to approximately 300 kbps when the network is capable
for higher rate.
3. Update new daylight saving time for US and Canada. The start date for
day-
light saving time is changed to start at second Sunday in March.
4. Add Modem backup. Enable modem backup feature as option. The 3G data
card can be the backup for the WAN connection. 3G IP can be connected
when the wired WAN connection is down.

here's a picture of Linksys with EX720, using our novatel expresscard to pcmcia adapter:
