hmm. can you ask Sprint for fw 2.00.22? The problem doesn't seem to exist on this firmware. |

| I'm in no way affiliated with Linksys. Tech support just told me to phone Sprint and ask them for this firmware. |

hmmm...something fishy going on here..I just got an email from Linksys Support...I'm just going to copy and paste what is in the email..
As promised, our product engineers tested the devices but unfortunately, they were not able to replicate the problem. As they advised, you may try loading firmware version 2.00.22 on the router. This firmware is not yet posted on the Linksys and Sprint website so you have to request it directly from Sprint. Once the said firmware is loaded, please provide us feedback if this has fixed your upload problem or not. Thank you for your time and patience.
I'm off to contact Sprint support...If/Once I get it, I can put it up on my web site for everyone to download..

Ok...from my own experiences..this is the LAST Linksys product I by..I'm done. Here is what transpired from my end,
I was on the phone with Sprint, very nice and helpful person, but she checked with her manager, they did not have that version, so the VERY nice person from sprint called Linksys support, and we both listened to that damn psychedelic music they play. After 1 hour and 30 minutes of answering the SAME stupid questions over and over again, all we got out of them was, "We are going to let management know that you don't have that version and Sprint does not have that version available. That is all we can do now."
After Linksys hung up with us, Rachel, from Sprint, called me back and told me that she is going to talk to her manager in the morning and find a way to get that firmware some how. She told me she would call me back tomorrow, I guess we'll see.

This is just too funny, Linksys actually has the audacity to send me customer satisfaction survey after they basically ignored my question...boy are they going to get bad marks.
I had a lenghty discussion with Linksys about the upload speed problem. They said that they do not have this listed as a reported problem and gave me a series of things to try such as changing the MTU settings to 1492, 1400, and 1300 cycling power between each. I do not think this will help as I get same 1/2 speed upload with either wireless or wired. I also have ordered a DLink DIR450 and possibly will order an TGMB8000 to test with my Merlin S720 card.
I will let you know what I see. But if others are seeing this problem maybe they should speak up to Linksys.
I have been trying to get a Linksys WRT54GS router to work with my Comcast cable broadband and Slingbox so I can send my satellite TV signal to my laptop with the Express Card.
I had the router installed by someone who has installed over 500 + routers. I spent over an hour on tech support with Slingbox. Eventually the problem boiled down to the upload speed being degraded from 370 kbps to 50-210 kbps by using a WIRED connection to the Linsys router instead of a WIRED connection to the modem.
I spent nearly 100 minutes going through three levels of Cisco support (commendable on their part) changing everything under the sun (MTU, software, 50 power cycles) but was never able to get a reliable upload speed.
The problem of upload speed with the router (at least in my case) has NOTHING to do with Sprint, the Express card, or firmware. The reports here only confirmed what I independently experienced.
I was considering getting another Linksys router (just a bad one?) but the comments here about that not solvong the problem will send me back to get a Netgear router. |

| I can't say that Linksys is bad/terrible..what I can say is the support is bad and is troubling to me. I know and know things are not perfect and there are mistakes and bugs along the way..my problem is, the problem with Linksys support and addressing the problem/issue. That is my biggest complaint through this whole process. There will be bug/issues along the way..that's fine, just acknowledge them to the consumer and fix it in a timely manner. Is that asking for too much??? Maybe I'm the problem...what do I know.. |

I think that firmware is for UMTS and HSDPA networks, look at the release notes.
They even have 2.01.2 available there. I can't find any instances of EVDO-type cards in the release notes of it either. |

As the world turns..so does linksys.
I received a call from Linksys support, after I sent them an email asking if I had to sell my first born on the black market to get the new firmware. The support person/team asked and I sent to them, screen shots of the speeds from both the router and the card in my laptop, they also asked for a backup, config file from my router so they could load it.
Ok...I"m tired of guess and trying to figure out what is going..I'm pretty confident that Linksys has NO clue what it's doing...can anyone disagree with this after what has transpired over the last 24/36 hours???? |
