It's very odd...just sad that Linksys won't take this problem seriously ... bush-league..I'm going to contact them on Monday and try to get an update on the ticket I have open with them on this. That was 1 reason why I went with the linksys router..very disappointing. I'm just about tested out trying to figure it out, I've had the firewall off, messed with MTU just like everyone else..same results.

Hello All,
It appears that I am not the only one with this issue. My download speeds are consistently 1.1 MB on Sprint EVDO - Rev A, but my upload is another story. When I have my Merlin S720 (Firmware: m6800A-RAPTOR_SPRINT-135 [NOV 02 2006 14:00:00] ) in my laptop, I get uploads of 450k, but when I put the S720 in my Linksys router I get uploads of 120k. All upload tests where executed from my laptop with all other computers on the router turned off.
I called Linksys on April 12, 2007 and they told me that this problem has NEVER been reported before, I see that is a bunch of BS. They had me upgrade the firmware to ver 2.00.9 and it did not fix the problem. Then they told me it must be a hardware problem and to exchange the router. I exchanged the router and still have the same exact problem with the same speeds. I'm looking at about a 75% loss in upload performance.
All of my speed tests have been on http://powervision.sprint.com/mobilebroadband/speedtest/ and at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/.
Linksys told me to call them back when I get the new router and test it. It Saturday now so I'll be calling them on Monday and will let you know what they say.
Keep calling Linksys, they have to address it sooner or later.
Thanks,
Karl |

I received a call from a 'Tier X' Linksys engineer (Who apparently works on Sunday??). I explained what I see and discussed my data with him.
He said that they have a scheduled 'Corporate Technical Meeting' this coming wednesday. They will test the problem and promise to discuss it at this meeting if the data 'proves out'. They said that they will let me know sometime after that meeting as to whether it made the 'Fix' List.
They have some new driver support coming up for Sprint in next firmware update and maybe the fix will be there.
I know some of this sounds 'strangely familiar' from an earlier post from someone else and this may also be an overly accomadating 'Tier 2' with a need to finish his call list quickly.....
But we will see. I will let you know if I get the email notification about the problem resolution he said I would. |

Well, when I call tomorrow, if I fell like I'm getting no where I'm going to try to get to the shift manager or something. I always had high regard for Linksys, but after this experience....I will consider all options and products.

I called support today regarding my open case number and after much frustration with the helpless help desk I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I got one.
The supervisor proceeded to tell me that Linksys wasn't so much concerned about the upload speeds, only download mattered. This totally blew me away, I immediately corrected him on the importance of upload performance and then he began to back pedal and tell me that this is a known issue and that it has been reported to the developers. He also said that there should be a firmware fix in the next couple of months.
I don't know how much of this I believe as I think he was just trying to get me off the phone.
I was not very happy with this call. The first person I talked with, I had to ask to repeat nearly everything she said. She was very un-informed, tried to put the problem on Sprint and then even told me to get a new Mobile Broadband card. This woman was not helpful at all! |

Can you hold 3 minutes my butt...I give up, I don't know what else to try or do..
Well, here is what happened this week...
I did the online chat for a bit Monday..eventually they came back with...there is nobody available can we have them call you, I said..sure..Tuesday..no call Wednesday morning no call..after lunch, I did chat again and they started to say "Can we have someone call you in the next 24 hours" and I was like..hold on..nobody called me back from Monday chat. Here is how things were left, then I'll post some other highlights..
Leonelo (18280): I'll submit your query and get back to you via email once our product engineers gives us feedback about the case.
Jim: ok, but no idea when I could receive that email?
Leonelo (18280): I do apologize sir but I can't promise you an exact time/date.
Jim: I just hope something happens in the near future..i've always had high reguard for linksys products...but after this..and not much feedback, leaving a bad taste in everyones mouth..
Leonelo (18280): Sprint provided us a number that addresses all replacements for the unit. You can contact them through 866-222-4081.
Jim: how about the testing on it and the email? I'm just not convinced that it's just this 1 router that is the problem
Jim: Merlin S720 and PX 500 have reported to have the same problem
Leonelo (18280): Have these people having the same concern already reported this to Linksys or Sprint?
Jim: yes..if you want, there is a nice long thread about it if you want to read
Jim: http://www.evdoforums.com/thread4942.html
Jim: Yes, reloaded it again, did a full reset of the router, turned off the firewall and tried different setting on the MTU
Leonelo (18280): It seems that we are out of options for troubleshooting. Our only option is to replace the router.
Leonelo (18280): Have you also tried reporting the issue to sprint?
Jim: No, I hadn't because I didn't have the problem with the card, it was only in the router. They didn't write the firmware did they? It wouldn't make sense
Jim: It just puzzlesses me that dozens of other people are having the same exact problem..and supposedly it's not been reported there |

| I spoke with two people the other day and both of them tried to push the problem off on Sprint again. I told them that the router says "Linksys" not "Sprint", Sprint doesn't write the firmware for the router etc etc. |

Thank you! My goodness, what an incompetent bunch of idiots.....Anyway, hopefully now that you've done this things will "start moving".
Until then, here's to hoping.
And thanks again, Michael, I really appreciate this. (I think I speak on everyone's behalf on this one). |

| yes, we are; trust me, most of us who are complaining about this problem have done a number of different things to resolve the issue; all to no avail. |

Having been notified that this thread has been forwarded up the food chain for review, it's probably counterproductive to use pejoratives about the people you hope will be assisting us. |

I was referring to all the techs who have been giving us the run around of "contact Sprint", "the card is defective", "the router is defective", or "Your MTU isn't properly set", Bill. |
