Michael, did your Sprint contacts indicate any information regarding the size and/or duration of their beta test? Or if they think that there will be additional builds of the firmware to enter testing? _________________ --Larry |

I think I am lost. Why would you need to sell your router or card if they are working for you?

Whatever...
Next time just keep it to yourself. And just for the record, I have serious doubts that a company like Linksys actually needs anyone from this site to "test" there bin. Spare us the BS, and don't think for a minute that they are gonna actually give you something thats exactly what they say it is without fully testing it themselves. Don't be so gullible. |
Well I have been told that I should sell my existing router and buy one from them. And that I should cancel my existing service and get rid of my card to buy one from them. Both of which gave me a good laugh, too bad they weren't in humor. With wild blue there were tons of co-ops. But none of them told me I had to sell my equipment and buy from them to get support.
Not much would surprise me at this point after seeing how unprofessional this situation has been handled.
Hopefully the situation will be rectified... |

| People are suggesting others sell their current router and buy it from this site ONLY so they can have this "beta" software. |

That's twice you've posted that but IMO it seems to be a bit of an exaggeration don't you think? The "people" you're referring to was one person with a grand total of 19 posts on this forum making what I (and I'm sure most everyone else) took to be an offhand attempt at humor. Here it is:
| Mephis wrote: | | So what do I have to do to get this firm ware? |
and then the response . . . . .
| DonL wrote: | Sell your existing WRT
Buy exact same mode from 3GStore
Then ask nicely

For anyone who wants to check out these "people's" comments it's on the 11th page of this thread. Geez. The two posters combined have a grand total of 44 posts. I haven't seen a single other reference to this.
But then again I suppose if you want the beta firmware now and they're only providing it to their (3GStore) customers it would appear to be a viable option. |

| Nope, I don't think it's an exaggeration at all. That's exactly what this site wants, regardless of who made the comment. |

| OK I haven't read this absurdly large thread, but can anyone tell me if the new firmware will be released for us to download soon? |

I only post here when I have problems; I lurk constantly.
I'm still waiting on this stupid firmware, and I'm getting more impatient by the day. This whole lala-paloo is a joke, and I'm tired of these 4kb/s upload speeds. _________________ Merlin S720 |

Last week I spoke to the WRT guru at Sprint and they were not aware of any beta version that Linksys is working on. I gave him all the info I had on the topic and pointed him to this forum. He was going to check out the forum and get in touch with Linksys about the beta.
I'm interested to see what Michael gets back from Linksys.
Michael, do you also have a Sprint contact that you can talk to? If you do, that would be sweet. |

Nothing Yet?
This "fix" is moving at a snails pace... Well, maybe slower... |

Here is a message I sent to them and the reply I got.

And their reply

I don't think Linksys, honestly, is directly to blame for this; the problem is that this is a joint-product; it was made for Sprint...yet Linksys is the one that did the making/designing. It has been said that the reason the beta didn't get through is because Sprint blocked it...(go figure).
Either way, I think if Linksys would have made this product on their own (and it would function with Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, AT&T, and T-Mobile), they probably would have had a lot better product on their hands; whenever there was an issue, they wouldn't have to contact a company specifically; they'd just have to do the testing in their own "labs", come up with a fix, and release it; a second party couldn't interfere with the progress.
It's really sad, if you think about it; besides the upload issue, the WRT54G3G-ST is a great router... |
