Could you trust any company that publicly violated its agreement with another company? Would you trust them with your purchasing information or even with the product that they sell?
It is important to understand that trust is far more important than satisfying the impulses of some unknown person over the internet. Heck, that person might even be an employee of the other company testing the trust of the first.
Since we do not know the terms of agreements between these companies, we can only respect them and follow the guidelines given us.
Note that it could be that the 3Gstore's policies for help and such are dictated by the agreements with the other companies, don't know and probably never will. |

All,
I too want this issue resolved and I want it resolved yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. However, I work for a large international computer company and I totally understand and respect EVDOInfo's position on releasing the BETA firmware that Linksys gave them in good faith.
The people that you need to be bugging about this issue are Linksys. Point your energy and frustation towards Linksys who provided us with this wonderful bug and not EVDOInfo. Linksys is the one that needs to feel our pain and frustration.
I again contacted them today via their live chat and was able to get escalated to the next level of support. They are not willing to share the BETA copy with me, but my issue is being sent to the engineering team.

I can't say what kportner said any better. Everyone with this router should have this release through official channels.
I was fortunate enough to be a tester for the 3GStore since I purchase my router from them (thanks again for the terrific support). This version has improved my uploads slightly (never have been fast where I live), but most important to me, it has also fixed the constant disconnects I used to have. I'd have to reset the router 2-8 times a day (in a 12-14 hour period). Now, it stays up and not one reboot necessary of the router for over a week now.
So, do complain, but complain to Sprint, not Linksys. I think Linksys has fixed the problems, they just need Sprint to release the update.
Woody
PS: Don't ask me for the firmware, I won't reply to any requests. |

This is just down right childish. You guys at 3gstore are posting around here like "nanny nanny boo boo, we have the fix and you cant have it..."
Whatever...
Next time just keep it to yourself. And just for the record, I have serious doubts that a company like Linksys actually needs anyone from this site to "test" there bin. Spare us the BS, and don't think for a minute that they are gonna actually give you something thats exactly what they say it is without fully testing it themselves. Don't be so gullible. |

Sounds like you are new to software and don't realize that ALL software is betalike and the cash paying users are the final beta testers.
For 20 years I have watch both hardware and software hit the market that is often pushed out with known bugs just for the cash flow or when subjected to a million users with a million different computer configurations then the undiscovered conflicts arise. Between 1986 and 1996 I was able to crash just by using it every program I tried.
Often management says SHIP IT while looking at a stack of uncleared bug reports and to assume that any company can fully test it is incorrect and proven so by the many updates to software and firmware and recalls that occur.
When Java was being hyped before its release they were boasting about having some of the brightest minds fully testing it for any possible hacker activity on our computers since Java gave fully control to the designer. I mentioned on one list how frightening this was and how it might be used by bad guys to exploit our computers. I was quoted the Java line by several fellow list members and pooh poohed. Was I correct?
A decade ago I read (and I know nada about this issue) where one PC software application would modify a dll or something used by every other application and wreck havoc with the others.
And on and on it goes. |

Yes, just look at Vista as a prime example. |

Hello All,
I called Sprint today and spoke to some one in level 3 technical support department about the router. No one there new anything about the BETA software from Linksys or was really familiar with the problem we are having. The "goto" guy for the Linksys router is off today, but the support person I spoke to, Ray, is going to get with him tomorrow and bring him up to speed on our issue and have him check on this BETA copy. Ray is going to call me back the evening of Aug 6th to give me an update. I will post an update here as soon as I know something new.
I suggest that all of you take 10 minutes out of your day and call Sprint, get to level 3 support, and talk to them about this router issue and the BETA copy.
Sprint told me that Linksys will not release the firmware update to the public until they have tested it and approved.
There is power in numbers, lets increase the technical support call numbers to Sprint regarding this issue.
I know, I know, we have all called before, but now we have new information. |

Heh. 10 minutes. I spent 5 hours on the phone with sprint over the last weekend, and I talked to a human for about 45 minutes of that. |

I got a good laugh out of hustl3 calling 3GStore childish and then writing "nanny nanny boo boo," in the same sentence. You meant that to be hilarious right? It worked!!!
Almost as funny is the notion of only taking 10 minutes out of your day if you have a reason to call Sprint for ANYTHING!!!
Yall are cracking me up!!! Please keep the humor coming!!!!!!! I'm loving it!!!!! |

Well I have been told that I should sell my existing router and buy one from them. And that I should cancel my existing service and get rid of my card to buy one from them. Both of which gave me a good laugh, too bad they weren't in humor. With wild blue there were tons of co-ops. But none of them told me I had to sell my equipment and buy from them to get support.
Not much would surprise me at this point after seeing how unprofessional this situation has been handled.
Hopefully the situation will be rectified... _________________ Merlin S720 |

| Well, how big of an upload speed impovement are you seeing with the 'beta'" firmware? I dont have it, so I'm curious to see if the upload problem is really being fixed. |

typically you'll see a slight boost; with the beta you can get around 300-350k; with the OpenWRT, you can attain 400-500K+ (this is assuming you have adequate signal). |
