|
|
Sprint has just released updated firmware for the LinkSys Mobile Broadband Router (WRT54G3G-ST). This firmware adds support for:
- Pantech PX-500
- Siera Wireless AirCard 595
Here are the release notes:
| Quote: | Release Details:
Dated: 11/02/06
Firmware Version: 2.00.9
This version provides the following upgrades since version 2.00.4
* Driver support for the Pantech PX-500
* Update driver for Sierra AC595 Card
* Add the selection for priority of fail over
* Add hang up function on Novatel S620/S720 when disconnect
* Add protection on Connect/Disconnect button |
We will be doing some tests with the PX-500, since is will be the first router to support the PX-500. Initial tests look good. After we put the firmware through more tests, we will then officially support it.
Once we officially support it, the following will happen:
- We will upgrade firmware on our Linksys EVDO Routers before shipping
- include the firmware on our "Router Firmware Support CD" that we ship with the LinkSys Router
So for users who have a PX-500 OR want to get one, you can now get the PX-500 pre-activated for router use and we will even upgrade your router. This way, when you get everything, it will be plug and play. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

SUCCESS! Not a burp from the Linky yet.
Updated to V 2.00.9 and so far all Sprint cards NOW work.
Choose not to reset to factory default settings yet, to check whether the 3G-ST is unstable after updating (and not resetting configs).
Some of the competing routers can get a little "funny" if they are not immediately reset. This can really be an issue if you're attempting a 'field upgrade' where you cannot realistically reset to defaults, which would wipe your ability to access from the WAN.
Initial PX-500 speeds appear good, no large difference between card/notebook vs. card/router speeds.
More tests due... hey so much for SLEEP. :] |

The update we did on ours went without a hitch too, very easy.
We are going to upgrade our stock on Monday, so we will let you know how it goes after upgrading 30+, hopefully no errors will indicate that upgrading firmware on the LinkSys EVDO router will be easy for everyone. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Where is the updated firmware available for download that supports the PX-500? I checked the linksys website, but it was not posted.
Thanks,
Bryan |

Is it recommended that everyone upgrade to this firmware?
I haven't noticed any problems with my router, so I was wondering if I should upgrade or not.
Thanks. |

i can't say its a must...
if there is a feature you want, that this upgrade provides,
that would be the only reason to do it. |

| If you have a S720 card it does fix a few important issues. |

I updated my Linksys to the latest version without any problems. I did get the "No Signal" issue and thought I read here that it would go away with a reset to factory defaults hit. The reset didn't make any difference, but a few reboots through the web interface later while making other changes and the signal shows words show fine; not terribly useful without either a real signal reading or even a little graph through.
I don't seem to show any significant performance problems though, including uploads. Is there a failcase I can try out? _________________ --Larry |

The bin file indicates version number 2.0.0.9.
However, when I look at the firmware number in the administration application (after signing in as the administrator) I see Firmware Version: v1.00.7.
Can someone tell me that I need to update this again or in fact I have the latest version.
I can swear I did this update already but today when I checked the firmware version it showed Firmware Version: v1.00.7.
I appreciate the help. |
