|
|
The Booster Antenna increased my received signal strength from 45% to 100%. It takes a few seconds for the increase to be noticed.
Coming from a mobile wireless background, I've tested and evaluated numerous such products. Remember the handheld cellular booster antennas in the early 90's that were window mounted? They never worked. Initial tests indicated this one does.
I'll post a more detailed report with bandwidth measurements when I'm deep inside the convention center in New Orleans next week. It's a wireless industry show so the 5220 is going to get a chance to prove itself in the worst of intermodulation and interference scenarios.
FYI...I have no affiliation with the antenna manufacturer or this board. |

I have been using a PC 5220 card for many months. I heard that the booster antenna helped, however, I didn't want to spend $269 on the antenna (from that other guy).
I found this web site and ordered one last week and I AM IMPRESSED. I had a very weak EVDO signal (1 bar) and after plugging in the antenna, I got 3 bars. I had to rotate the antenna around a bit, to see which direction got me the best signal. I will be doing benchmarks and posting them later. |

Hello,
I purchased one of these antennas for my PC5220 card last week. At my office, I get a strong 4 bar EVDO signal.
At my home, I get a 1 bar EVDO signal and it constantly drops out of EVDO and goes to the slower 1xRTT speed. After adding the Booster Antenna, my EVDO went up to 3 bars at home, and it stays there, it no longer drops to the slower speed.
For $79 bucks, I am happy. |

| The last reported success with these things is 2005. Before dropping $65 on one, I was wondering if I could get some more information on these... i.e. do they really work? The anecdotal experiences in this discussion are mixed. |
