However, the guy over at the other web site (they keep changing their URL, now it is unplug and play.com is selling a 1GB SD card for $585. Here is what you get:

I wonder how many people will be suckered into this new SuperCharged option | $585 for a 1 GB SD? *faints* _________________ EVDO Addict. |

After reading all the previous posts, I'm so glad I never heard about Robert Kim until I came here looking up Verizon Wireless. EVDOforums.com is one of the most informative sites.

I will take only partial credit for that, thanks to all the regular posters who are so generous with their time and information and keeping EVDOforums useful, timely, informative and an awesome EVDO resource.

With all the domains he owns, it may be hard to prevent that. BTW, Kim used to OWN Google and many of the search engines, but now, EVDOinfo & EVDOforums has excellent positioning and in many cases, top rankings in Google. So, for those searching, they will probably find these sites and and be able to get useful and accurate information vs. some of the BS at that other site. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

man, everybody has got to step back from these often very poorly designed "speed test" programs.
Try real downloads from sites like mozilla.org - you will see reality and not some estimate. |

Eliminating one domain and IP at a time is fine by me... _________________ EVDO Addict. |

Hey Matt or Gord,
Do you want to comment on the 3G Cyclone Repeater that he is now peddling on the site?
My understanding, is that any repeater needs to be FCC approved and that Gord previously was unable to get the FCC info for this device.
Thanks! _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Here we go again...
Now, he is selling a 1GB SD Card (the one for $585), with a bunch of public domain programs for XV6600, Samsung i730, 6700, and Treo 700w.
Don't waste your $$$, all the items on this SD Card are in PUBLIC DOMAIN and can be downloaded and installed for free. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I would like to publicly thank everyone who has discovered our web sites and continued to visit them. We started all this to spread useful and accurate EVDO information and many have helped us get the word out. I recently checked traffic reports at http://www.alexa.com, and below is the graph of traffic between our site (and the other one):
So, thanks _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

We have had over 10,000 people read this thread, so word is getting out. Also, we are starting to get good search engine placement when searching on the term Robert Kim:
Google #10
MSN #1
Yahoo #19
So, hopefully, people will do their homework first and based on the number of hits to this thread, they are. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Sadly I just confirmed that I was screwed too. As a technological neophyte bear with me as I ask you guys to help out a "chick" in distress. I am not joking. I am basically trying to get input from anyone who has succeeded in getting money back. He owes me $899 for a returned repeater (in Nov.) and $50 rebate for my “traded in” EVDO card when I “upgraded” to his service. Now I am paying him monthly for the service which is maddening. I assume he gets a cut as a sub-agent (?). Anyway, questions:
1. How can I find out his dealer (?) if he is an agent? If he was fired once why can’t he be fired again? 2. I have never filed a BBB report. Would that help the other victims? 3. Like the previous poster, I wonder if there are any law suits out there against him? 4. I would like to think we could start a victims’ effort to make him pay everybody back. Any ideas? I am at a complete loss. I have had such great experience w/ e-commerce and wonderful people like you guys, that it saddens me (pisses me off) that so many “dummies” like me have been CON-ed. One poster said basically that idiots like me deserve it, and maybe so. But, this does not mean he should get away with it. I know this may not be the appropriate forum to write this (sorry Michael) but I would love to hear advice from others. Maybe if we band together we can do something. At this point, I wonder if local law enforcement should be notified? I have no idea. Bottom line: I am not even talking about his crazy promises. The fact is he promised satisfaction and a refund if it did not work. No refund – even though he got the equipment back from me with a tracking number. Sorry to waste your time but I really do WELCOME ANY ADVICE!! Your truly, the biggest dummy of all _________________ Cav21 |

Hello,
Here is my advice.
When you purchased your card, you probably received a contract to sign. The contract was NOT from Mr. Kim, he is the "sub-agent". The contract came from the "master-agent". Look at the top of the contract. I would do the following:
Call the master-agent and complain. Tell the master-agent that you are also going to call Verizon to complain. If enough people call and complain, they can get in big trouble and even lose their authorization - they do not want that to happen.
CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY and complain that you didn't receive the merchandise. The credit card company will do a chargeback to the vendor (Kim), and the money will be deducted from his checking account and returned to you. He has to prove that he sent your merchandise (tracking number & signature), otherwise YOU WIN and get your $$ back.
Contact me, if I can help in any way. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

A few more comments.
Don't feel like it is your fault, he is a con-artist. I have talked to so many more people who have NOT posted to this thread (because they couldn't believe they were taken too). If anyone is reading with a story, please post and help others.
Filing a complaint with the BBB is a good idea, I have done it once before, it is done online and painless.
Contacting local law enforcement is not a bad idea.
You mentioned that you are paying him monthly, can I assume, that you are paying Verizon vs. him directly?
BTW, don't be sorry for posting, this thread was setup for EXACTLY this reason, for others to find, people to post their stories and to help people not make the same mistake over and over. When searching on Google, this thread now makes it to the first page when searching under Robert Kim, so hopefully, people will find it and it will help them. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

This is Cav1 again. Thanks for all the good advice. I will definitely pull the contract and see if I can get somewhere with the Master Agent. Great idea. Also, I will file a BBB online. Finally, even thoug the equipment was returned months ago, I will contact the credit card company and see if they can do something (even though I recall you had to do it within 60 days). Of note, it is interesting that my monthly charge is to Telepotence, not Verizon. Telepotence is Kim's company, right? If I stop paying that, I guess I will get whacked for an early termination fee. Guess I need to look at the contract and try to work out something with the Master agent. (I am looking at Wild Blue satellite options now and will keep my other EVDO card with earthlink) Anyway, thanks again to all!! I will let you know if he refunds my money on his own (to clear his name somewhat) or if succeed using different avenues. Again you guys rock and I will certainly use you for any future EVDO purchases. Au revoir!!! _________________ Cav21 |
