BigDave... don't forget that Verizon has Rev-A everywhere they have EVDO... and his card is Rev-A compatible...
so he's getting Rev-A... just with lousy upload speeds for some reason. maybe its the tower? |

Ohhhhhh. I didn't know that. I guess that's why they call you guys the EVDO experts, huh. Of course I don't know who "they" are . . . . in this case it's actually you guys who call you guys the EVDO experts isn't it? (I am entirely too funny this morning . . . . simply amazing myself!)
Actually then that is REALLY bad UL speeds since it's EVDO. |

I cannot verify Rev-A since my BlackBerry 8703e does not support, but Rome NY is now showing EvDO -- I was able to D/L at about 0.5 Mbps or so using a tethered connection. I would assume that it's Rev-A since VZW has supposedly upgraded their entire EvDO network to Rev-A. The Mohawk Valley (Utica-Rome NY) has traditionally been a 1X hole between the Syracuse and Albany EvDO networks!
Now I just need to find a router that would support a USB connection to the 8703e... |

Excellent! Wish I'd known that before I tried Alltel. At least I'm still within the 30 day trial/ |

FYI, swn5363, beware of Verizon's 5GB per month limit. This may not affect you at all but then again it may.
Here's a great link to see if this will be a factor for you or not - http://www.evdoinfo.com/5gb |

I am very happy to report that Rev A is working very well in Circleville, OH (about 40 mins south of Columbus). I have a PC5750 card from Verizon
My best speed test so far is 1167/534, but average is around 800/300. Ping times are solidly around 100. These results are far better than my WildBlue Satellite service, so if I continue to have positive results with the Verizon card, I will be dropping WildBlue. |

I noticed the "EVDO" indicator on my cell phone in Roanoke, VA this weekend. I was unable to logon via my MacBook Pro to test speeds as my battery was dead . I noticed that my phone was only able to pick it up for about 5 miles around the Valley View Mall area, so it looks like Verizon is working on setting up the service in Roanoke still. Supposedly EVDO will be available in the Roanoke, Christiansburg, and Floyd, VA areas by November. |

Upgrade from the PC5740 to the USB720 ( The rep also changed the plan to get Rev A if that matters. ) and it shows Boradband Access Rev A in VZAccess.
We are located in Three Points/Robles Junction, AZ 85736. No CABLE or DSL services available so this is a blessing.
Before the upgrade it was always National Service until recently when the PC5740 would switch to broadband but with only one bar and that would last a few minutes until it got back to National.
Checking my address with the VW CSR yesterday he said my street address is on the boarder of National and Broadband. |

|
|
For the last several days, I've been seeing (& using!) EVDO coverage around Sparta, MI on my Treo and aircard. EVDO coverage used to end between 9 & 10 Mile roads when traveling north on M37.
I'm waiting on a response from my VZW salesrep, who last week claimed that the expansion was coming (and that he had a map).
Of course, VZW's online coverage locator still shows this as a 1X area. Anybody else seeing "new EVDO" in this area? Thanks! |
