|
|
| Got an indication of Rev. A on the VZAccess Manager using my Sierra 595 card today in Greater Cleveland. Speed test had downloads as fast as 1214 and uploads as fast as 208. Speeds on a drive into town were inconsistant so it looks like they might have some tweaking to do. |

In Jackson, WY. Got the icon change on the my phones today, but speedtest.net still shows 133 Kbps down and 57 up. This is the first day I've seen the signal so I'll give them a bit to ramp up the speed. |

Ash Fork AZ has Rev A
Got the card, activated and visited testmy.net.
got 619 down and 159 up. needs tuning, but not bad considering that I have not the best signal in my office and the card is right out the box. That's already more then I get on my damn Hughesnet ....
next tuesday I get router and adapter for the trucker antenna from 3gstore... can't wait
btw, seligman AZ tower got also upgraded about a week ago. It's for sure EVDO, most likely also rev a. Will try to test it in the next couple days

|
|
I have just received a replacement USB 720 from Verizon.
Funny thing is, I work two blocks from where I live and get 1.2 Mbps at my work and anywhere from 200 Kbps to 500 Kbps at home.
Here is the kicker, I bought a USB modem adapter from Verizon to enhance the RF signal to the USB 720. Got the window mount version.
Attaching the adapter to the modem and subsequently hooking up the antenna, REDUCES my signal.
Remove the antenna and get 4 - 5 bars, hook up the antenna and get 3 max??
I believe we have Rev. A in downtown Salt Lake City, UT, but less than a quarter mile away (two blocks), the USB 720 gives me an average of less than 300 KBits.
Anyone want to try and explain this weirdness?
Thanks,

I'm about 10 miles South of Leesburg, VA 20175. I'm getting 1175 d/l and 200 u/l with a 137 latency, Rev A, (according to speedtest.net)
I'm using a Sierra 595 Aircard into a Top Global MB6000 router and also a Wilson omni Trucker antenna mounted inside my screened porch that faces East.
Funny, when I mounted the antenna to my chimney (about 15 feet higher than where it is now), the d/l dropped to 245! Not sure why. When I had the antenna propped up against by bedroom window, I was getting 1219 d/l. _________________ Jibby-jib ! |

| Why isn't there any Colorado Cities listed? I know Colorado Springs just came online last summer (2006) and I believe Denver was ahead of this. |

just a warning, Verizon TS does not let you start a trouble ticket for broadband when you are outside the broadband area on their online map.
this was about a month ago ...

....had it nicely running with 1000-1200 kbps dl and 500-800 kbps ul .... until yesterday. yesterday morning the access manager wanted to upgrade the "coverage map" and since then the card is down to National Access.
Verizon TS does not want/can not check into the problem, because their map does not show the three towers Seligman, Ash Fork and Williams AZ as updated SO I'm official in National Access area and because I get that, it is all fine for them.
I had one TS confirming that I was connected Rev A to Ash Fork tower (checked their log). Next claimed that I got EVDO signal from Chino Valley, the Tower is over 30 miles away and no clear LOS ... yeah right
The real funny part, my Verizon Razr has still great EVDO connection and I tested it with VCast and was running very nice.
But because Verizon could not give me an ETA I had to cancel the broadband account, so back to the damn Hughesnet and 1xRTT (hopefully soon REV A) from Sprint is ordered. |

| I'm running RevA in Topeka, KS. I have full bars and great performance at home but was getting 0-1 bars with frequent disconnects at my office (I'm in a shielded facility). I took a gamble and bought the booster antenna sold by over in the 3Gstore and now get a steady 2 bars (with occasional drops to 1) but very rarely get disconnects. I love it! |

I'm getting Rev A in Columbia, MO. I live on the Callaway/Boone County line, east of Columbia.
Using Sierra Aircard 595, Top Global MB6800, Wilson trucker (omni directional) antenna, Wilson 3W amp.
I've had EVDO for about 2 weeks, service has been very unreliable for online gameplay. EVDO should not be advertised as "great for gaming".
Still, you get what you pay for. $60/month for 2 year contract is essentially providing me the "poor man's" version of true landline broadband service. Higher latency (ping) and frequent disconnects (2-3 times a day over an 8 hour period) are annoying, but given that the alternative is worse for me (previously faulty ISDN connection, or 28.8K dial up) I can't complain too much. |

Hey Orion39. Welcome to the world of EVDO. I am curious as to why your stated that you are getting Rev A? Your speed test actually shows Rev 0 speeds. With Rev A you'll see upload speeds upwards of 200kbps. Normally the averages seem to be more around 300 - 500 kbps with some reporting much higher speeds. 69kbps is most definitely Rev 0 though.
You may want to consider testing on a server that's closer than the 1800 miles your speedtest is showing as well. Have you changed your HA? (Is that even possible with Verizon?) |
