hi all
i'm sorry if i cannot read through all 16 pages but i'm looking for a quick answer. does this novatel u720 device work on a macbook and macbook pro? i'm in the market for a new laptop so i'd really like to know...
thank you!
m
p.s. is it possible to swap this w/my existing data card (on the $59 plan)?

Absolutely, positively yes.

Do not install the Sprint software, download the Apple WWAN software and install it. After you do that the U720 will work (if it has been initialized).

Where can I find this update? I tried looking up version 1.0 of the Apple WWAN that I could find and my MBP told me I couldn't unstall it on my computer.

The Apple WWAN drivers for Intel Macs.

You will need to uninstall any current Sprint drivers before installing.

You may also need to use the Admin account. Sometimes I reboot into it to do an install but mostly just type in the password and name.

Again that update won't work on my brand new MBP, the computer tells me it can't use that update. Any ideas?

Much to my surprise, my Novatel U720 is working in my brand new MacBook Pro. I somply plugged it into the USB port and at the top of the screen is a phone icon. I click on that and hit connect and it connects to my Sprint Broadband account! Very Nice! It has a very nice interface as well, just slightly limited than the Windows version.

I recently got my MacBook back from the Apple Store after having the hard drive replaced. I plugged in my Sprint U720, and it installed just fine -- except the MacBook seems to think it's a Verizon U720. I don't get the signal strength indicator in the menu bar, though it seems to connect to the network ok.

I can't figure out how to change it... I've removed the U720 from Network Port Configurations and re-installed, but that doesn't help. Anybody have any suggestions?

The reason the WWAN drivers from Apple says that it cannot install is because your computer already has them installed. New computers have them installed, and most likely the latest versions of OS X. I know Software Update also pushes the drivers through even if you don't have the card in the computer.

I work for a verizon premium retailer, and am a tad biased but like to think i am outside the box.....that being said, I have never seen so many people have such problems on verizons network. I myself have installed many different cards on many different computers/operating systems etc. In the 2+ years of me working here and having sold these cards both pc and usb to people all over the state i have had 1 person that has had half the problems you guys have had, and i was able to fix it by a better power supply. In short (i know this is long) why would you continue to stay on it if it works so terribly and/or your having such problems with getting it to function, just seems to me that they really arent "supporting it" and you shouldnt need to find some obscure website/program to get what you paid for...its just confusing to me....I could be a moron, who knows

After a post like that, probably not a good idea ending your post with that line Smile
