Sprint has the U720 on their web site, it states:

As the device ships now, it is not Mac compatible.

Since, Sprint doesn't support Macs directly, they rely on Apple to have drivers. We are expecting Apple to release a software update that supports the U720. As soon as those are available for download, we (or someone else) will post to this thread.

That sounds great. At that time would appreciate instructions on how to fully and completely remove the VZAcess software, assuming it has an uninstall and leaves traces of itself behind.

File -> Uninstall VZAccess will do a complete uninstall, then just restart.

It's amazing that Sprint lists this as "Mac compatible" on their website. I trust you guys 100% more than I do them. What do they tell mac users when they buy this and it doesn't work? I suppose they just take it back and refund money but it's just annoying to see such false advertising.

If I wasn't aware of this board, I'd be out buying this modem from Sprint and then going through endless frustration with Sprint tech support trying to get it to work.

Sorry, just going on a rant...

Here's the link incase anyone wants to see it - http://powervision.sprint.com/mobilebroadband/devices/novatelU720.html

I will forgive Sprint for lying to us because Verizon lies about unlimited usage. Hope that Apple releases the driver soon, but will look to VZAccess in the interim, which if I understand correctly will let us Mac users use this device.

Is that correct? Isn't it that you can use the U720 but have to use Verizon's software with configuration changes? You're on Sprint's network but using Verizon's software.

Michael, please correct me if I'm wrong.

VZAccess 3.1.2 supports almost all of Sprint's EVDO Rev A devices, however, the device needs to be activated first on a Windows laptop with Sprint Connection Manager.

If you read between the lines, we are expecting Verizon to announce many new Rev A devices soon. They wouldn't release software to allow Sprint Mac users to use Sprint, right?

Look for Verizon to have the same Rev A Devices soon (U720 = V720, AirCard 595, V720, etc.)

I really hope that Apple pushes a Software Update soon. Can you imagine the PR nightmare that Sprint is going to have, because their web site claims the U720 works with the Mac?

There are many people that will order and spend countless hours on the phone and trying to get it to work. The good news, this thread comes up first in Google when you type "U720 Mac".

Oh, sure they would. Do you really think anyone at Sprint is going to loose sleep over Mac users not having any drivers? Telco companies don't care. They'll just blame it on Apple. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple wouldn't even commit to a release date. I don't expect they'll release drivers just for Sprint, so it will likely be part of a general OS update and given the flak over the recent secuity update, they may have fixes for that which holds this up.

I downloaded VZAccess for Windows, too. It's "VZAccess_5.8.6_V620_U630.exe" which I think is the most current release.

OK, we can confirm people at Sprint are watching our forums Smile

They have removed ALL references to Mac support for the U720 from Sprint.com.

Now, this shows up, notice it doesn't say Mac compatible any more.

As of right now, the only way to get the Sprint U720 to run on a Mac is to use Verizon VZAccess 3.1.2, for a demo see:

It's official. This is complete crap. I was told by Tech Support that this issue would be resolved when the card came out. Fat chance on that.

The VZAccess Manager doesn't seem to recognize the card either though. I'm running a MacBook and have version 3.01.
