I have been getting a REV A signal in the Quad Cities Iowa and Illinois area for the past week with PRL 60608 however they do not appear to be REV A speeds. I've done several speed tests and this is what they all are around. I know when I tested Verizon’s REV A the upload was much faster but I know they have not officially rolled it out in this area as of yet.

Hello all.... new to the EVDO world here and thought I should post my info-
Sampson County, NC (Very rural area, but only a couple of miles from the towers by Interstate 40)
Sprint w/ U720 hooked to WinXP Pro machine running ICS.
Connection manager is set to EVDO Rev. a only
EVDO Rev. A DB: usually from 82 to 86
Latency: 185ms to 225ms via ping's to yahoo.com
Speeds: 1250 up/ 250 down
Thank GOD for EVDO!! I'm about to make the call right now to Direcway to cancel my service that I've had with them for 4 years.... I'm grinning from ear to ear!!
This forum has been a great help and a valuable resouce..... thanks to all that contribute here! |

| You're welcome Ramsrule. I too am new to EVDO, and suffered for 6 months on Wildblue while I was in rural San Diego county. I have since moved, but due to termination fees and an upcoming move to Portland, I have gone with Sprint Mobile Broadband. (Mainly because it has no restrictions like the others) You can expect 80-90kb/s during the night if you have a signal like mine, and during peak around 55kb/s. Although I'm not as familiar with the technology as some here, I'll try to help you if you have any questions. |

I have yet to see any download speed over 600kbps with dslreports.com/stest or http://www.gambitdesign.com/bandwidthmeter/initialmeter.php with my new Sprint rev A cards (I've been using both U720 and EX720; I just swapped the former for the latter) in all my travels around Chicago and western Michigan. I am getting Rev A connections (as per the connection-manager gizmo).
Further, the download speeds are routinely around 300-400kpbs
Further, dslreports.com/stest shows me no upload speed better than 150kbps, and they are more like 80kbps. Also, latency is usually in 180-200ms range.
I see performances listed in this thread of 1000+ kpbs down and 300+ kpbs up, and I'm extremely envious.
All this leads me to believe something is uniquely wrong with my hardware, configuration, and/or Sprint service in Chicago or western Michigan (namely Holland, MI). Any suggestions?
Back when I was a Verizon rev 0 user a year or so ago, Verizon told me to disable the "compression" setting in their connection manager, and I ended up getting much better performance. Might some setting/configuration on the sprint side generate better performance for me? |

This sort of post makes me wonder how many different configuration/settings options (including software, firmware, hardware, settings) I can be changing to get better performance:

Thoughts?
Should I be making a new thread for this? |

Geesh, I'm not Rev. A yet (no software upgrade for Mogul yet) but my area definately has the capacity for Rev. A...and they definately have the towers! I have a friend with a connection card and he's VERY happy with his service (faster he says than his usually 768/256k...I think...WiSP connection that has maybe 40-75ms pings.
My point being that Rev. A is in my area and I'm sure it's one of the fastest places around (small community, ~10k people, I don't think anyone knows about Sprint Mobile Broadband here)...heck, Rev. 0 here looks to be faster than Rev. A in some places!
I'd post my Speedtest.net stats here but the antispam feature stopped me. Just look up Fredericksburg, TX and I'm the one with the higher speeds heh. _________________ Mogul >= iPhone |

Mac Book Pro 2.16GHz (First Generation)
Mac OS X 10.4.10
Novatel EX720
Average Download: 1055kbps
Average Upload: 570kbps
Latency 100 packets (min/avg/max/stddev)
First network hop: 44.542/71.686/120.938/10.380 ms
google.com: 85.183/111.582/137.611/7.303 ms
bbc.co.uk: 134.954/166.010/514.940/43.974 ms
Now I get to hope that Sprint at some point upgrades to EV-DO Rev B. I'm not really concerned about getting more bandwidth, just better latency.

| Rev A in Baker, CA as well as Barstow, CA. This FLOORED me. Baker, California, for those who are not familiar, is a town of 200 people that most people only pull over for gas and maybe some food on their way to and from Las Vegas. Now THAT's deployment. I was very pleasantly surprised, as that means that the entire country is likely covered equally as well as a small town in the middle of nowhere. WOW! |

Consistent speeds now. Similar results to most speedtest areas.
100ms ping to something in Chicago (my HA area)
-67dbm
Was getting the 1300/300 "single T1" style until recently. Guess our tower has either had the caps increased, or more bandwidth added.[/img] |

I'm hoping there are some other users here that are from/around the Anaheim/Disneyland area.
I'm asking that anyone who is in the area and has sprint EDVO can post their speedtests and perhaps give an account of their dealings in regards to product and services.
I've already got the service, but am 'grounded' to the office for a few months - the boss is away and I've got to hold down the fort.
Thanks!

WOW! | The last time I drove by there was solid EVDO Rev A practically from LA to Vegas. That is awesome anyway you put it. |
