It looks like the new firmware version is out. Anyone know what it fixes or corrects?

It adds support for three new Sprint handsets (Samsung A900, A920, and Sanyo MM-7500) as well as fixing support for the Kyocera KX18 and Samsung A890. It also contains some new features for Sprint Data Link customers that allows KR1 to operate on the Data Link network. There's a bunch of boring technical details behind that but no one here will really care as it concerns enterprise customers only.

There is a build in test right now for S720 support.

I just tried to load the new firmware and I have ended up with a bricked router. I have tried all of the recovery stuff but I still can't get my KR-1 working. HELP!!! I have read all the de-bricking info I can find and I have done every documented procedure and its still bricked. What should I do?

I ran it last night and it did fine. It now sees my S720 properly and doesn't show gibberish beside the signal strength scale. It also ran all night without the router losing connection and having to be power cycled to get the connection back. That was a constant problem for me with the older firmware.

It seems like all of my issues are now solved. I was even getting steady 125KB/s downloads where before I was lucky to peak at 60 and average around 40.

Anyone else have a report on the new firmware and s720? I will have to load it up when I get home tonight and hope I don't end up with a brick.

If you bought it from Booster-Antenna.com, give us a call and we can either help you with some recovery attempts or get you warranty replacement.

RK1007 doesn't provide the S720 support we're waiting for. Full support isn't slated until the next firmware update (RK1008), which is being tested now.

Anyone just wanting S720 support may want to hold off on updating until RK1008 is released.

It would be really unfortunate if anyone were to brick their router trying to get RK1007 loaded and then brick the replacement router too when trying to load RK1008.

While the new firmware may not add offical support for the s720, I found that it is a great improvement over 1006 for use with s720.

As posted before, I was running:

Download Speed: 379 kbps (47.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 53 kbps (6.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency is usally 450-600

With new firmware I am.

I've also noticed a nice speed increase since my upgrade moments ago. To the site I've tested to hundreds of times & never got over 600K is now reporting over a Megabit down.

If you're implying that the RK1008 firmware will have further upgrades I can't wait. Smile

I have to agree also that it is MUCH better than 1006 or earlier firmware for the S720.

Like I said above... I had marginal connection strength and it would eventually drop the connection and would not reconnect under any circumstances without power cycling the whole thing.

Connection strength is great and the link is solid for over 2 days now without a single drop. The speeds are also much better.

Hey.. and it also SHOWS Novatel S720 now as the data card instead of gibberish so its gotta be right right? hehehe

Glad that everyone is seeing improvements with their S720. Are there still errors in the log?

Ok Mackieman... how about it? What is helping with the S720 connection speed and stability in RK1007?

Hello All,

I have the KR1 with the S620 and I want to get the new S720 card. So I loaded the UPDATE 1.007 ... The update went well but My bandwidth dropped from down 600-900 K / Up was 64-70 K ... Now Down maxs out at 450 K and Up only gets 36-48 K ... This is NOT a improvement but a big lost for me ...

I double check my EVDO card in MY notebook and My speed are 1000 k down and 70-100 k up stream ....

This update is not very impressive ... depressing ... I guess I have to reload 1.006 .....

I am EVDO rev 0 in my area ... they will soon be switching to rev A ...

I am on the Sprint System ....

Hoping for More

Try resetting to factory defaults if you haven't.

Reload RK1006 if RK1007 is worse. (and again... be sure to reset to defaults AFTER the downgrade).
