A new tip has been posted on EVDOinfo.com:

Sniffing Out New EVDO Towers with a PC5220

This tip will show you how to 'sniff out' new EVDO towers and 'see' them before they are officially released.

This tip will also help those in marginal EVDO areas (dead center between a 1xRTT and EVDO tower).

This ONLY works with a PC 5220 card, not others.

I don't have the P8A card, mine just indicates it is a P8, but the procedure works with it. I had a terrible time getting a stable signal in the building where I work. Now my EVDO signal is rock solid.

Glad it worked for you.

Now, if only Verizon would allow "EVDO Only" for their current cards - it could help solve problems for a lot of people in signal challenged areas.

Note To Sprint Posters, not an invitation to post "Sprint Can Do This", we know that already Smile

A while ago when I was debugging an EVDO problem technical support team at Verizon asked me to upgrade the firmware on my PC 5220. Unfortunately I can no longer run the earlier Connection Manager (it gives initialization failure). Does anybody know how to downgrade the PC card?
