Hello,

This report is coming to you after inserting my ac595 PCMCIA card into my new KR2 router.
I am seeing speeds averaging 1.2-1.5 down and 900-1.2 up.
Latency is around 100-400 depending on what server I hit.

From box to unsecure setup, to internet, to VPN, less than 2 minutes.

I have WiFi access in every room of my house with excellent signal strength.

I will move to an outside antenna this w/e. Currently hooked up to my old antenna that had signal strength around 86-92. Hoping to get a few more bars, and will do some more significant capture tests this w/e.

The VPN is what I was most interested in, and of course ditching wires.

Thanks to the fine people at 3G store, for the advise to go with the KR2.

It seems to be just what I needed.

A couple qualifying statements:

1) I know the KR2 is manufactured by a different company than the KR1
2) I've held onto and used my KR1 while anticipating that we will move to an area with Cable and/or DSL. Now, it looks like we won't be. We'll be moving to an area where I get better EVDO reception.

With those out of the way, does the KR2 have the random drop problems that the KR1 has? I went for maybe a month without drops. Now, the past two mornings as soon as two computers start using the connection, we get a drop.

To sound like a lazy ass, the router at the other end of the house, and I have to stumble in there half-awake to unplug and reset it.

Since other options aren't available, and the KR2 has improved wireless (no issue with the 5750??) I'd like to look into it. But only if the wireless actually works with my card, and it doesn't have the random drops that the KR1 experienced.

Has anyone seen evidence of these events?

I didn't follow the KR1 issues too closely. Were the drops on the EVDO side/WiFi side or both?

We ran about 6 hours last night from multiple computers testing WiFi access. We also testing sleeping rebooting, to ensure the household could just open up a window and have broadband connectivity.

Our next steps are to move the router, getting the outside antenna hooked up and securing the network.

Alrighty I have my KR2 up and running..

I placed it upstairs in attic then hooked up cat 5 down to basement and plugged in my US robotics router so I am flooding house pretty good..

Without any settings being made just plugged my PCMCIA card in (REV a of course) then plugged in KR2 AND whamo all my laptops and desktops along with PS3 are working flawlessly..Played a quick Game of COD3 with good results very pleased..I also didnt have to use any of the secret squirrel game configurations to get PS3 working all i did was usual setup on PS3..

Now with that said the only thing I did notice is that my speed goes from 54Mbps to around 24Mbps sometimes dropping to 11Mbps on wireless connections.

I have my desktp hardwired to KR2 and it seems to hold at 54Mbps..

Anyway very happy so far I will keep you all posted with future results..

Download is at 1.2M and upload is around 500k pings are under 125..

Thanks 3G store for super fast shipping and great customer service..

I am a complete novice with this Router stuff, and to say I am router impaired is an understatement. I setup my KR2 last week. It worked right out of the box. It can't get any easier than that.

I have used my laptop and desktop, with Verizon, the KR2 and 650 aircard (w/antennas) with no drops. I have used it at home, and on the road, in my RV.

For what it is worth, at work in the San Francisco bay area, my friend and I were testing our equipment. His Sprint aircard could nor get a signal. My Verizion had no problem, with or without an antenna.

I have not setup the security yet.

I'm very happy with my KR2. Had no time to really check it out in depth. So currently it is still setup as it was delivered. IMHO it is also a good move by Kyocera to use Cradlepoint to build the router. For Cradlepoint it is also a good move, getting a foot into the consumer market. And the regular consumer will profit from all that the router already is cheaper and will get closer in price to a regular not 3G router.

I use it with a Franklin CDU-680 on Sprint as primary and a Verizon 5750 as failover. So the 5750 works fine, not an issue.... but I had the Verizon connection only up for a couple hours.

The 680 holds up the connection nicely and the automatic failover worked also last night. I'm rural and only have one Sprint and one Verizon tower to connect. Both towers drop the signal at least one time a week Shocked , so this router helps me alot.

I've gone several weeks on my KR1 without a drop. However, it typically drops when the g/f and I are both using the connection first thing in the morning. Sometimes, emphasis on some, it will drop while I'm playing a game via Xbox Live. I don't think it's multiple machines using the link, as we can both be online. It's just they are random, in their spacing, but fairly consistent at the time they choose to die (~6:00 a.m. CDT or mid-afternoon.)

If possible could you, or someone else, use the 5750 as the primary card with NO failover for a week or two and report results? Can you use the WLAN with the 5750 without consequence?

I was walking around the property we bought the other day and saw a Scientific Atlanta box up near a pole...so cable is available. But, I'd still be paying 60$ a month for my EVDO. May as well use it.

I was considering ditching my S720/WRT54G3G-ST setup to get an MBR1000, but now the KR2 sounds like a good move - only if the S720 works on it. It's not listed in the compatibility chart here or on Kyocera's site, so I guess I am stuck until someone tries it or Kyocera decides to add it someday.

Drop us an email on this topic - we have tested ALL EVDO cards and are aware of many that work that are not listed.
