Ok my Novatel aircard story has come to an end......finally.
I sent it back and got a different card. After speaking with Verizon again and them telling me (like you guys said) that there is a driver update the card locked up my laptop as soon as I put it in. So they sent me a Audiovox 5220 and I am happy to say that I am sitting here teling you this on the wireless connection provided by that card!
They still want to charge me for the 3 months of service that the card did not work so I will be discussing that with someone from finance on Monday.
As far as the performance of the card itself, I have had cable connection for 4 years so it is not the same speedwise on pages that have lots of info, but for the most part it is fast enough.
It has dropped the connection a few times which is disappointing.
Thanx for everybody's help and comments.

I have a Compaq Presario 1500 Windows XP SP2 w/ NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller and the V620 will not work at. I have tried everything possible.
I took the card home and installed it on my Dell Inspiron 8500 and it installed with absolutley no problems. I believe it has something to do with the NEC Open Host Controller drivers. I was wondering if anyone has found a solution for this problem. Thank you. If i get it working I will keep the post updated. |

Hi.. I did a google search for a issue of mine and it seems that you guys are going thru some of my same problems too.
I have a Sony VAIO V505 and recently purchased a PCMCIA USB2.0 port. However, the moment I plug the card in, my VAIO will freeze, and taking the card out will cause the laptop to reboot. I've even tried formatting my hard drive but still to no avail. So it seems that its not the Verizon card that causing the problem, but I feel it has something to do with the PCMCIA slot. I've checked under the device manager and it states that it uses a Ricoh controller also.
Anyone has a workaround on this? I mean, is there away I could update the PCMCIA controller? |
