Every manufacturer says that about the rf out ports if ask them about it . They basically don't want you using it . What I have been told is they feel they are only good for 100-150 insertions |

oops, didn't finish.
can I just ignore this and use it? does anyone know how you would work the phone with the battery out to plug that into it? is there an adaptor that plugs into the little spot by the usb plug that it can run off of instead of the battery.
sorry for so many questions but now that I've had a taste of evdo I'm ready to buy what I need to boost the signal ! but I really like this phone and don't want to give up on it just yet. |

you can use it with the door off or be really careful and drill hole in door |

I am new to this forum, so please excuse me if I am in the wrong thread. I have a G4 17" Powerbook that I take offshore sailing. It is used for charting, etc. I would like to provide Internet connectivity. We are currently Sprint cell phone customers. My question to those knowledgeable readers is, can I use a amplifier/repeater, such as those from Digital Antenna, with a EVDO card? Could this give me the broad band coverage I would like. We are typically sailing along FL's west coast within 15 miles of the coast.

Most dual band amplifiers will do the trick for you as long as sprint has towers close to the Shoreline. Some are better than others. We currently sell the * amp . Same model being sold by Shakespeare dealers 9 Comes in a marine grade case. Amplifier by itself is $178.95 , with Kit $199.95.

Thanks for the quick reply MaximumSignal. With the antenna amp you mentioned, that must be directly connected to the card, right? I was interested in a wireless, multi-user type system, so that people could use their cell phones on the boat as well as having the computer connected to the net.

Yes it requires a direct connection . A direct connection works best with EVDO cards as wireless amplifiers transmit signal in a cellular pattern ( in bursts) Whereas EVDO is a constant stream . We do have wireless multi user units coming out very soon you can view them on the website |
