Well, I'm not as happy a camper as most of the people who have posted here. I LOVE this concept, if I can get it to work consitently. I have had the V620 for exactly 15 days. It worked well in Chicago, but was a pain in St. Louis and Atlanta, even though I was within the supposed coverage area. It worked, but the performance is very erratic: fast sometimes, painfully slow others. Tests show anywhere from 20KBPS to 500 KBPS...depending on when I test in the same spot.
I took the modem back yesterday and exchanged it for another modem to see if I just had a flaky unit. The performance is the same in Atlanta.
I was hoping to add a booster antenna to see if it helped, but there aren't any that I can find. (Any help here?) It has a port to add one, just no idea where to get it.
One thing I noticed is that I can start out with 2 bars in Broadband and then it fluctuates to one bar and no bars and often drops down to the slower Nationalaccess. This seems to be wrong, especially since I am sitting still! Are they having network issues?
Oh, it seems Verizon stores do have the card in stock, if you make them actually get off their butts to look. Every time I ask about this card they tell me they never heard of it. When I asked them to check they have found it in stock both times. |

| I had the same problem in Rockwall Texas, where the damned card would switch from broadband to NA back and fourth and the service was really poor. I called Verizon tech support and explained the issue and the tech laughed and said that he'd heard of this before and wished there was a way to set the V620 card software to EVDO or RTT, but that there wasn't at this time. It may be that if enough users complain about the lack of this feature, they may come around in future releases. I doubt it, but one can hope. |

For those having this problem, how many bar coverage, or better yet, what is your EVDO signal strength?
If you are in a 1 - 2 bar EVDO, it may be that the V620 is switching to the stronger 1xRTT signal.
I will guess, that you do not see this problem when in a real strong EVDO (4 bar) coverage area. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

| Erratic behavior can be caused by the Venturi software, I never use it just too flakey. Try it a few days without it. |

| ? Really? this was up at the new Snuffer's that was was having that issue. In addition, while traveling Ridge Road through town, and all the way out 205 to Lavon, I get nothing but 1xRTT on the V620 |

| Venturi Sux. It is an over agressive proxy cacher. It will only provide benfit for the text portion of web pages that are hosted on a web server that doesn't use http-gzip compression. |

Actually, I had it drop to National Access yesterday when I had 100% signal strength on Broadband. Granted, this happens more when you have a weaker signal but it does happen at times when I have a very strong broadband signal. Go figure. |
