According to this, the S620 operates in 800 and 1900mhz bands...

But I was attempting 1xRTT roaming, which is what Sprint says is coming soon.

That is weird. I couldn't get the card to detect an 800MHz 1XRTT signal which is the only tthing Verizon has around here.

As a related topic, the locking is stored in the card, so if you move the S620 into a device that offers some support (KR1 or Mac), the locked in setting will remain, see:

Forcing EVDO stored in card or connection manager?

I was using the sprint PC5740 for my AIRCARD for 6 months and just switched to the Merlin S620, because my computer didn't like the firmware or something and would lock up then give me a BLUE screen and restart. Also this was recomended from someone here on this forum to get the S620.

I am also using this hardware the KR1 - It is a wireless router for the EVDO and 1-X cards (Found on EBAY for 200-280.00)...

After installing this new software from sprint. ( www.sprint.com/downloads )

I have noticed a faster conection on both dial-up and EVDO.

The Merlin card that I bought, I found it on eBay for $50.00 w/ free shipping - They are brand new at SPRINT for 239.99!! Wow a BIG Savings...

eBay for the Merlin S620 ranges between 10.00-100.00 so watch closely and you might get one real cheep! Do last min. bids, the last 5 min of the bid is the best.. Sneek a bid for what you want it to be, but be ready someone might have already posted a higher bid at the same time or an auto-bid..

(( Make sure to ask the seller if the ESN is clear and able to activated ))

**Search for this on eBay "Merlin S620, Novatel S620, Sprint S620" people seem to change the wording so that it is harder to find or something...**

Hello kd5yov,

Can you start a new thread about using your Sprint Card in your Truck. We like to keep threads on topic here (makes it easier for people to find information in the future). So, please start a new thread and post your 2 posts to it.

Thanks!

Hey guys. I just found this and had a question-

Ive got a Merlin S620 with Sprint PCS vision - Novatel Wireless 3.02.001, and dont have the option to select EVDO or RTT only in the settings menu. (its not greyed out- the option simply doesnt exist)

I am also unable to select automatic or roaming only. (SPRINT is the default, and the automatic and roaming only selections are greyed out).

Also whenever I attempt to update my software I get the following error:

"You are not connected to the internet or there is a problem with the update server. Please check your connection, then try again, or try again later"

(and yeah before someone asks, yes I am connected when attempting to update)

so anyone have any ideas I can try before I have to resort to sprints customer service?

I just tried the updater and it seems there server is broke right now. You need 3.04.001 in order to see the options. You can go here:

http://www.sprint.com/business/products/phoneCategories/connectionCards_phones.html

In the middle of the page you will see the Dowload sprint manager click.

The Connection Manager will update your firmware if it needs to be. The latest is version 155 on the S620 card. Will also update your PRL so that it can roam on Alltel/Canada/Mexico EVDO/1xRTT networks.

Hopefully this will work...

I'm getting both the updated connection manager, as well as a bios update from hp.

Between the 2 of them, something should do something. Wink

Actually, I wonder if the 720 would be a good way to go. Sprint told me they'd replace this card with another. Should I do the exhange/upgrade?
