Wow, it seems much better now. I haven't gotten a chance to try it on a weekday afternoon, but yesterday evening and today it certainly seems faster than I've seen it in a long time! Thanks so much! It's awesome that Verizon engineers are monitoring the forums!

Anybody that gives that kind of customer service is a GOD in my eyes Wink

SO, here I am in Coal Creek canyon exactly 4 miles west of the Highway 72/93 intersection(literally only a block out of Verizon's mapped broadband area)with line-of-sight over Arvada just south of Rocky Flats. Any chance I can get broadband to my PC via an ant/booster/amp, oh ye mighty Verizon engineer?!

Having worked in his type of job (engineer for a bigger company) he probably can't promise anything. But you might try getting an external antenna and card from evdoinfo.com and trying it out. I think Verizon gives you 15 days to change your mind.

BTW, even during prime time I've continued to get speeds at around 950 kbps. SWEET!

I live in a very small town in southern IL, and we (our town) have been told by Verizon that we're not going to get DSL here anytime in the foreseeable future, and we have no cable service here. Interestingly, we do have decent Verizon Wireless service here, in fact we have a solid "National Access" signal (which is noticeably better than dialup, but still much slower than Broadband). Can anyone anywhere put a word into Verizon for us to get full wireless broadband, since that's the only way it looks we're ever going to get any sort of real hi-speed internet in this area?

We've been down the satellite "broadband" road and it leads to no-where. (Extremely high startup costs, and upload speeds that make dial-up enviable.) True wireless broadband would allow us to have decent internet speeds so we can get our work done and do other things besides wait for pages to download.

I'm seriously considering MaxSignal's & KKinder's advise and trying to get what I can with an ext ant and booster and/or amp. Heck, I'll try anything!!!! I wonder if anyone else supplies broadband over here on the Goldenish Front Range?

So Verizon does not have EVDO that I can get at the 72/93 intersection, but what about basic 114K broadband from any service? And does anyone know what the ballpark ping rates are for both this and EVDO? Thanks!
