Interesting article that talks about someone who is tinkering with BlueTooth and EV-DO and mentions that BlueTooth is fast enough to keep up with EV-DO. Even the next rev of BlueTooth will not be fast enough. So, in the future, if you are planning on using a BlueTooth phone over EVDO, do your research

Looks like BlueTooth 2.0 is being targeted to handle the high volume 2.5G and 3G cellular handset market (translation = BlueTooth 2.0 will be able to keep up with EVDO).

So, in order for your computer and EVDO phone to talk via BlueTooth - make sure that BlueTooth 2.0 is on both ends.

Some computers are starting to come with BlueTooth 2.0 as standard options.

I just received one of these two days ago. I will start looking into this. It is unfortunate that the boys and girls over at Verizon don't have a clue, I just turned my service off two hours ago before I read this forum.

Would this cause any issues with making regular phone calls and using a bluetooth headset?

I don't think it's fair to us to state that everyone in Verizon does not have a clue. I personally know many technicians (including myself Wink ) that are very knowledgable at our jobs.

Here is my experience with a Sprint Samsung A900. When using bluetooth connection with my laptop I get speeds of 240/80 And when I use a USB cable I get transfers of about 850/110 Big difference

I'm so glad that the first Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR phones are finally being announced. This should solve the bluetooth bandwidth issues for awhile (at least until we get above 2mbps).

That Apple link is using the wrong term, yes?

"The new Apple PowerBook G4 portables are the first computers to offer Bluetooth 2.0+EDR."

They are no longer called Powerbooks and do not have the G4 CPU.

Also can anyone link me to the phones that have this new Bluetooth 2.0? Guessing my A900 phone does not.

Probably an old article?

The last revision of the PowerBook G4 (introduced late 2005), does include the faster BlueTooth 2.0.

The problem, is the phones still are at Bluetooth 1.x.
