|
|
Hello,
I have been testing the PPC6700 and I really like it a lot (read review).
I have been success at tethering the PPC6700 to my Sony Vaio via the USB cable and it works well. I have been successful at tethering the PPC-6700 to my Mac as a EVDO modem via Bluetooth and it works great. However, the PPC6700 includes BlueTooth 1.2 not BlueTooth 2.0 (does any device have BlueTooth 2.0 yet?). BlueTooth 1.x is not fast enough to keep up with EVDO when you are in a EVDO area. You will get a maximum of around 140K, even if you are in a 400K - 700K area.
So, I started looking at getting the PPC6700 to be tethered with a USB cable to a PowerBook. Unfortunately, there are no PPC6700 USB drivers available for Mac OS X. So, until there are, it doesn't look like you can use a USB cable to tether, but you can go slower with BlueTooth.
Is anyone interested in writing some Mac USB PPC-6700 Drivers with me? It cannot be that hard. Start off with some generic Mac USB drivers, change the ProductID & VendorID, recompile, do some testing, use the existing Sprint PCS Modem script and we are in business.
Before, I go down this road - has anyone already gone down this road yet? If you have contact me at mike at EVDOinfo.com. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Michael,
Any updates on this? I would love to be able to tether the XV6700 to my Powerbook - I just can't get it done (BlueTooth OR USB).
I already have them paired at this point, I just don't know what to do once I strt wmodem, as it relates to the dialing settings on the powerbook. |
