This is not typical. I am having an unusually bad night. I will try to post in a few minutes after I get at least one bar. I can get up to -93 on a good night in HDR mode. It does not seem to have any bearing on the weather either as it is clear tonight.
The other screen shots were in Auto mode on my other Parabol. What I am trying to accomplish is to determine of indeed the Tower that I do get inconsistent Rev A on is 800 or not and I thank you in advance for your help and your patience. |

I just want to thank both of you for your patience. I usually get at least a workable signal. I finally got it:
Here is one of my Parabols taken just after I installed it this past August. It took me days to get it aimed good enough to get any rev A signal. The thing is that some nights it works well enough to get good speeds:
It actually works better when it is slightly cloudy out.
I wouldn't be so lost but one Verizon tech told me that the entire EVDO network is 1900 except in limited areas and that it was got me to buy these 2400 Parabols.
I would like to find a vendor that will sell me just an 800mhz feed horn. So far no luck. This way I can keep my current aim and not have to invest in another entire antenna.

Well your getting the generic signal there. See when I had my Yagi hooked up I had that problem on occasion.
I'd bring up the VZW access manager and would get that Broadband Signal and it would bounce from 0 to 2 bars. Mine never connects to that. If I leave the manager up for a while it will then display Broadband Access Rev A like my picture in the first page. And even when it showed it with the Yagi I couldn't connect because another tower was causing interference. I had to literally go outside and aim it at another closer tower connect then spin it back to the other tower then it would stay connected.
Then I got my Grid hooked up last Friday and I no longer have issue's with only seeing the generic broadband signal anymore. It always shows 4 bars Rev A anytime and connects everytime without issue.
I doubt you'll be able to find just a feed horn. Maybe check Ebay to find a cheap used 900Mhz one. Mine was $81 with shipping. |

Hey Widget,
I am not going to mess around because I need this to be dependable. I am just going to go ahead and order the hypergain tonight. It is just a shame that Verizon cannot help.
I thank you and will let you know how it goes.
I have a half a store of used antennas and cable at this time! lol I’m laughing but my wallet is crying *^(
This past Sunday I was getting -83 on my deck with no antenna on my laptop. 4 hours later...nothing. Where does this signal go to? |

Yes I hear you man. You got to love the hunt. But take it from me once you get everything finally working there is nothing that feels better. I'm getting a nice collection now myself. I think I've spent close to $400 on equipment now.
Is this the one your getting?

If you want to hear something funny I've spent all this money on my Evdo setup and I'm currently getting setup to be an aggregator for Verizon to get a Bona Fide retail request to bring DSL to my community.
Good Luck be sure to let me know how it works out for you! |

I got you beat by a couple hunderd bucks. My funny story is that I support Satellite internet from a home office at night!. I run a help desk in a hospital during the day. The satellite latency just doesn't cut it for me so EVDO is all we have in my area.
We are getting BPL this spring but IDK what kind of speeds and limitations it will have, as well as what towns it will roll out to first. It is a county wide project sponsered by a rural broadband grant to jump start it. |

onedavester -
I'm no expert but from that picture if I'm looking at it correctly it seems to me like the reflector-doohickey out on the end of your collector is on backwards - AFAIK the concave side should be facing the grid not outwards. |

That was a good find but would it make much difference? The one I purchased last night doesn't even have a feedhorn reflector.
I appreciate all your help.

There is actually reflector internal to the molded part of the feed. The one you see is additional and not as vital.
See my note about this earlier in this thread...

I flipped the reflector over and got a Rev A signal today. I can get up to -93db some days with 3 bars even when the reflector was backwards. I am still on channel 630 so it must be that I am hitting an 800 mHz tower with my 2.4 gHz Parabol. I can't wait till I get the 800 mHz (actually a 900 mHz) here to try.

| See that is the signal you want to be seeing. If your getting that then there is definitely hope. I think your antenna is just to far out of the spectrum though. Can't wait to hear how the new one works for you. I think your going to see great results! |

I have had a much better signal for several hours at a time, and then it just goes away all while using the 2.4gHz antenna.

Onedavester - Did you get the new antenna (900MHz)?
If so how is it working out for you? |
