I sent the replacement back with my configuration in place. They are testing it now to try to determine the nature of the problem. I am using my original MBR1000 with 1.2 firmware, it works perfectly.

stay tuned, sbi108

Just reverted the MBR1000 FW back to 1.2, changed my modem setting back to HDR, set my network back up pretty much how I had it before, plugged the modem back to the router, and I have been fine ever since, no lost modem or router connections. My problem is definitely something jointly with the router FW 1.3.1 and the U727 as well.

I am also having the same problems with the 1.3.1 update.
Verizon USB727
Dell Laptop running XP Service pack 3 cabled
Dell Desktop running XP Service pack 3 cabled
HP Officejet cabled
When just these computers/printer are running everything works fine. No problems with the modem/router rebooting.

Now add in a Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Basic over WIFI or cabled and the rebooting begins. Can't keep a connection at all. Sometimes if I have the other 2 computers off and just run the Toshiba things are ok and router/modem doesn't reboot.

Reverted back to 1.2 and have no problems. Really liked the RSSI display on the new firmware but not worth the aggravation right now. I sure hope these problems get solved soon.

Interesting...Mine did it with just the HP XP laptop connected, the HP Vista pc wasn't even turned on yesterday. Mine did it to start with on both the XP and Vista machines but seemed fine for really a couple of weeks, only periodically rebooting, then yesterday morning it suddenly began again, and with a vengeance, worse than ever and completely unusable.

Your HP printer - cabled via Ethernet? I have a printer connected to mine but it's a regular Epson USB printer, hooked to a Belkin network hub, which is connected via Ether to the MBR1000. In trying to get to the root I disconnected the Belkin from the router (it also has a scanner and hard drive hooked to it), and plugged the modem directly to the router (was on a USB cable to get it and the booster antenna closer to the window). Have all that set back up again, after going back to FW 1.2 on the router, and all is well again.

Same here though, liked seeing the readings, signal, etc on the new firmware but I obviously couldn't use it like it was.

Not sure it matters but my overall setup:
Verizon U727 w/ booster antenna, connected via USB cable to MBR1000
Belkin USB/network hub w/ printer, scanner, drive; ethernet to router
HP Laptop w/ Win XP Home SP 3, 2 gb RAM
HP PC w/ Vista Prem, 2 gb RAM
both via WiFi to router
KVM switch share monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers
Router, pc & monitor on APC UPS

Yes the printer is cabled via ethernet. Here's more clarification on my setup:
Verizon USB727 w/Yagi roof mounted antenna connected directly to router
Dell Laptop running XP Pro Service pack 3 cabled via ethernet
Dell Desktop running XP Pro Service pack 3 cabled via ethernet
HP Officejet cabled via ethernet
Toshiba laptop Vista Home Basic connected via WiFi

Have you reported the problem to Cradlepoint or emailed 3G store support? The more people that report the problem, the faster they'll be able to nail down the problem and fix it imo. 1.2 is ok for my needs at this point but was considering a 2nd card since the load balancing is on the new FW now. I liked a couple of other new features of it as well.

sbi108 and lori -

I have a nearly identical experience to yours. I am using two USB720s on Verizon with the MRB1000 and fw1.3.1. Everything was fine for months on end. I did update my PRL on the cards for the first time in a while when this began happening, but no other notable changes. I didnt play with settings, the cards work fine directly in my laptop, I'm using WiFi. Based on the number of similar complaints, I hope this is being addressed. I LOVED this router up until now, and would like to resume my relationship with it Smile

Indeed Cradlepoint needs to get with the program so to speak and come up with a fix for firmware 1.31. There are features that 1.31 offer that many of us wish to use but cannot as 1.31 works poorly/is problematic for many users of same. Come on Cradlepoint!!!

I've had nothing problems with 1.3.1 so I rolled it back. One of my laptops connects to it and reboots the router about 5 seconds after. It constantly drops my evdo connection, it's basically junk, go back to 1.2 and miss a couple of features, it's worth it.

except when you bought it for the load balancing feature....then it makes this device useless for what you initially bought it for.

I had the very same issue with my Sierra 595u. It got to a point where I couldn't keep a connection on any of the three computers connected to the router. I was able to do a system restore of one of the computers, which brought me back to a configuration that had recently been working on that one. That allowed me to get into the router configuration and install version 1.2. All seems to be working smoothly now. I sure hope Cradlepoint gets this fixed.

Went back to 1.2 as well - all is golden now.

I wonder when 1.3.2 with the fix for this issue will come out? I expected to see it by now.

Below are communications with Cradlepoint on this. It looks like they're working on it.

My email to Cradlepoint:

Hello,
Please be advised that many people are having problems with the 1.31
software for the MBR1000 modem. See this forum thread:
http://www.evdoforums.com/thread10274.html
I was able to make it work by reloading the 1.2 firmware, but wanted to make you aware of the problem so you can work on a solution.

Response from Cradlepoint:

We are aware of the issue(s) and are taking steps on correcting them. We do monitor the EVDO forums for common issues like the ones you are experiencing.
Thank you,
