can anyone tell me if this works "hot-plugable" with 2 air cards the same way it does with one?
basically if i set my mbr1000 to work this way with 2 air cards...if i leave home and grab one of the air cards off the router to put in my lappy and go...when i get back home do i have to set it up again or do i just plug the air card back into the router and it will start working? |

The upgrade seems to have gone OK. After the router rebooted, it seems to have forgotten it's password.
The last upgrade didn't do this. Is this expected? Does anyone know what it set ti's password to?

I seem to have had that problem with my two MBR1000's.
I thought it was just me, as I re-entered the normal password a few times (after unsuccessfully trying the last digits of the MAC address), and it finally took it.
hmmm... scrambled data somewhere?

Many upgrades involve configuration data changes. When that occurs the data stored in the device needs to be reformatted/added/deleted for the new firmware to operate correctly. This upgrade had a number of configuration data changes in order to handle load balancing.

The default password is the last 6 digits of the MAC address, which should be printed on the bottom of the router. If you have a saved copy of your configuration you can restore it or manually reset any special options you had previously configured. |

Thanks for the information. My wife "cleaned up my office" and it would have taken hours to find what little documentation CradlePoint furnishes. I did back up the configuration, but you have to be able to login to restore...
Since I'm an engineer, I generally make it a rule not to give companies free engineering. Since I'm quite happy with my MBR1000, I'll make an exception for CradelPoint.
I have more than a few years as a Software Quality Engineer. I read the Release Notes, and didn't see a notice: "After this upgrade, your router will reboot and all settings will be set to factory default." An even better option would be to automatically save the configuration data, do the upgrade, and then restore the saved configuration data (or as much as possible).
Anyway, thanks for the info...

I'm not a Software Quality Engineer, but I was able to read the caution:
Note: Some firmware upgrades reset the configuration options to the factory defaults. Before performing an upgrade, be sure to save the current configuration from the Tools → System screen.
It's on the screen under the "Manually Upgrade Firmware" section and you also see the message if you use the "Upgrade Router with version x.x.x" button. You had to say OK to the message to upgrade.
I didn't have any problems saving my relatively simple config, upgrading to 1.3.1, and then restoring my config.

Yes, obviously some upgrades do and some upgrades don't. All I'm suggesting is that the release notes should state which ones do and which ones don't.
I'm also glad that you remembered what the factory default password was, you have a much better memory than I do.
My goal in SWQA is to make as little work for the user as possible. The less the user has to do, the fewer Customer Support calls come in, the more money the company makes...

| You also have to remember the more features you put in, the more likely something will break. I like their current pace of adding features. Its not extremely fast or haphazard but not so slow that we wait ages just to see current bugs fixed. I'm guessing they're reaching the limit of how fast they can add features because of how small their company is. I'd rather them take their time than push out firmware that does not work at all. |

I couldn't agree more, "Quality over quantity!". And even though they may be a small company compared to say Linksys, they sure do put a lot more[than Linksys] effort & quality assurance into their firmware releases! |
