Does anyone know if the DIR-450 will work with the Sprint/Novatel u720 USB modem?

It does not.

If it did, I would be using the combination instead of my DIR-450 sitting next to this monitor as an expensive paperweight.

Hmmmm, well isn't this interesting. The D-Link product page for the DIR-450 now lists the U720 in the list of compatible EVDO devices:

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=524

But the support page FAQ still does not:

http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2415&question=DIR-450

And there has not been another firmware update since the May release.

I wonder if something's up?

Thank you for the update. I see it is listed on their info page as compatible. I'm shopping around for an EVDO router but am a cheap S%B trying to save a few bucks on eBay. The D-link router is at least 1/2 the price of the Kyocera KR1 on eBay auctions. Probably more compatible units are on the way, if I wait a while price may drop. CompUSA carries the D-Link but they don't know anything about it. Had to explain what it was used for. The sales person in the networking section of the store had never heard of an EVDO WiFi/router.
